Turks Hit PKK With Chemical Weapons

Report: German newspaper says photos of dead Kurds confirm use.

BERLIN – German politicians called on Thursday for an international investigation into the reported use of chemical weapons by the Turkish military. The weapons were used against members of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), according to the online edition of the German weekly magazine Der Spiegel.

“Turkey needs to urgently look into these accusations,” said Ruprecht Polenz, chairman of the Foreign Affairs committee in the Bundestag and a member of Chancellor Angela Merkel’s Christian Democratic Union party.

Polenz recommended an international investigation to examine the deaths of eight Kurdish activists from the PKK. Claudia Roth, co-chair of the German Green party, echoed Polenz’s criticisms, seconding his call for an investigation.

MP Andrej Hunko urged the German Foreign Ministry to file a complaint against Turkey with the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons in The Hague.

A forensic report from Hamburg University Hospital confirmed that the eight Kurds had been murdered by “the use of chemical substances.”

Extremely troubling if proven true.

The bodies in the photos were severely deformed and torn to pieces;

Chemical weapons are infamous for this.

Both Iraq and Afghanistan should have been divided along ethnic lines and set to killing each other.

The message should have been: You f with us, and we will track you, personally, down and kill you. And your country will simply cease to exist.

It would have been especially appropriate in the case of Iraq, as Turkey wouldn't allow us to stage from their territory, and there is nothing Turkey fears more than an independent Kurdistan on their border.

It would have been a suitable reward for their "help"...

The radical Muslims are in power. That old time religion of bloody hunger follows every time. That is what all the hate Israel was about. The Turks are going to cause Europe a major problem if they keep it up. They know all of Europe’s defenses.

It's what Muslims do...

Whatever the most gruesome way to kill, they will choose it.

Ultimately, they are ALL terrorists at heart.

It wasn’t NATO, it was a member of the EU. Turkey has been a member of NATO for a long time.

I am assuming you were being sarcastic. The article doesn’t say what method was used in the “forensic” study by the university. Seems like this could be easily determined, so I remain skeptical of the initial report until confirmed....despite Turkey’s history with acts of genocide.

"Turkey has gone crazy."

It's certainly headed that direction. There is a significant portion of the population that while they may call themselves "Muslim", they're really not any religion at all. And, those people just want to live life in the most "western" style possible. Unfortunately, the Islamacists are really starting to win. What happened to Lebanon in the 70s, could easily happen to Turkey soon, if it isn't happening already.

I was at Incirlik Air Base in the late 80s, and then again back in 2008 and some opportunity to travel around a little. The difference was remarkable - for the worse.

Agree.

We don’t belong in that part of the world trying to “build nations” for barbarians.

Yes, they’d know....since they were the ones who first employed it for modern warfare during WWI.
