Whenever Fox News host Glenn Beck raises the history of progressives and eugenics, or the possibility that eugenics is part of the motivation of a legitimate policy debate, the left-wing has a hissy fit. But when the left introduces it, we're supposed to accept it as high-minded and scholarly, especially in the case Princeton University's Melissa Harris-Lacewell.
On MSNBC's Aug. 12 "Countdown," liberal blowhard Keith Olbermann asked Harris-Lacewell, an MSNBC contributor, what the motivation was behind the proposition the 14th Amendment of the Constitution should be altered to close a loophole for illegal immigrants to achieve legal status in the United States. As expected, Harris-Lacewell suggested it was motivated racism, but took it even further to say there was some sort of desire for genetic purity pushing it.
"It certainly is xenophobia, but it's got a little eugenics mixed in with it," Harris-Lacewell said. "Part of what I see going on here is, first, a deep misunderstanding about the 14th Amendment, and for whom the 14th Amendment provided citizenship. And although certainly part of it was about newly freed persons after the Civil War, it was also about all Americans."

I just think Copulating Your Way to U.S. citizenship is a little sleazy. We are always hearing the DemocRATS whine about “children going to bed, school, etc. hungry. The 14th Amendment is what causes it!
The Repubs are stupid to talk about the 14th ammendment right before an election. It plays right into the RAT party’s race card arguments and riles up hispanic voters. Why give the RATS a tool to beat you over the head with? Do the Repubs have anyone who thinks stategically?
Just keep asking the libs - is there any other country in the world that grants birthright citizenship to illegal aliens? If not, why don’t we follow the lead of those foreign countries the libs keep telling us to admire and emulate?

Melissa Harris-Lacewell is Associate Professor of Politics and African American Studies at Princeton University
Why not play the race card at every turn?
We’ve allowed it to “work” every time they’ve tried it in the past!
Exactly. All the republicans need to do is shut their pie-hole on stupid issues, and the rats will defeat themselves.
Or anytime for that matter. This issue is only a symptom, it not the problem. The problem is the 12 to 20 million illegal aliens. Fix that and this goes away.
As someone who has instructed nationality law, I know that it is a colossal can of worms that can have far reaching and unintended consequences to tinker with it.
That guy is an idiot, pure and simple. Either he really believes this BS, or he believes people are dumb enough to swallow it. Either way, he’s an idiot.
These people are utterly nuts. You can’t have a reasoned debate with these people, because they don’t want one. They want to throw around emotion-laden terms, because that’s what they believe will shut you up.
It’s the country that suffers as a result of this, not conservatives.
“And although certainly part of it was about newly freed persons after the Civil War, it was also about all Americans.”
And how does she know that? What makes her an authority?
I suspect that some federal court will rule that being born here makes you an American, even if you’re on a flight to somewhere else.
Ping!
The RINO turds are floating it because they think it makes them look "tough" on immigration. The Leftists are making noise against it because they think it will resonate with the Latinos.
The 14th amendment does not make the offspring of illegals citizens. That is merely a stupid, if generous, custom that has come to bite us in the ass. It could be ended overnight with an executive order.
The sad, although arithmetical truth of the matter is that if we were to end all illegal Latino immigration tonight at midnight, we are still going to eventually become this hemisphere's newest Latin American country.
Anchor babies are already 10% of the overall birthrate. By 2050, Latinos will be about 30% of the overall population, and climbing faster after that. Por inglés, oprime numero dos.
