The Texas attorney general sued the Obama administration Wendesday over its new deep-water offshore drilling moratorium, claiming it is unjustified and federal officials did not contact the state before issuing the ban.

The U.S. government spent itself deeper into the red last month, paying nearly $20 billion in interest on debt and an additional $9.8 billion to help unemployed Americans. Three governmental investigative bodies have now pored (sic)through the AIG wreckage and turned up disturbing facts—the House Committee on Oversight and Reform; the Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission, which will make its report at year’s end; and the Congressional Oversight Panel (COP), which issued its report on AIG in June.  The five-member COP, chaired by Harvard professor Elizabeth Warren, has produced the most devastating and comprehensive account so far.

In what appeared to be an implicit endorsement of Mayor Michael Bloomberg's own endorsement of the Ground Zero mosque, the State Department published the entire text of the New York City mayor's speech on its affiliate website, www.america.gov.-  A State Department official, Joanne Moore, first denied that America.gov was part of the State Department's website. She was then read a line from the website: "Distributed by the Bureau of International Information Programs, U.S. Department of State," which is at the end of the text of Bloomberg's speech, she said she did not know, then said, "no comment."
