Russia's nuclear agency says that it will fuel Iran's first nuclear power plant, the Bushehr Plant, next weekend, defying U.S. calls to hold off until the Ahmadinejad regime proves it's not developing nuclear weapons — at the same time the Obama administration plans to buy 21 Russian-made choppers for use in Afghanistan, rather than buy American-made.

In this case the Russian helicopters can do something necessary that current American models can’t.
Geez, just for the “hearts and minds” aspect it is a lame decision. How will the Afghanis feel about Russian choppers in the sky again? Will Charlie Wilson please pick up the red phone.
There’s a recession on, Bin Ladin has declared war on us, we got to create more jobs in Russia, don’t you see?
We also need to take meaningfully heavy military loads high into the afghan mountains to fight the enemy where they are.
Current American helicopters simply don’t have the high altitude lift capability do that.
Should we just cede the high ground to the taliban?
