U.S. Civil Rights Commission hearing erupts in shouting
CNN ^ | August 13, 2010 | Mike M. Ahlers

Washington (CNN) -- Members of the U.S. Civil Rights Commission shouted at each other Friday over the Justice Department's decision to drop most of the charges in a 2008 incident in which black militants confronted voters at a Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, polling place, leading to charges of voter intimidation.

Conservative commission members accused the Justice Department of "stonewalling" the commission's investigation into the dismissal, and called a Justice Department's response to requests for information "breathtaking and insulting." A liberal commission member, in turn, dismissed those complaints as the "last gasps of a conservative majority of this commission."

At the end of the fractious hour-long debate, no minds appeared to be changed. But one liberal member sided with the conservative majority in agreeing to recommend that Congress give the commission more power when investigating Justice Department matters in the future.

~snip~

In a letter this week to the commission, Perez again said the Justice Department's Civil Rights Division is "firmly committed to the evenhanded application of the law, without regard to the race of the victims or perpetrators." He does not believe Coates "is the appropriate witness to testify regarding current Division policies," he said.

That drew a strong response from commission conservatives.

"They, by virtue of this letter, gave us their back hand," said commissioner Peter Kirsanow. "This is contemptuous of this particular process," he said.

These ‘post-racial relations’ the media were talking about after the Messiah’s election have stepped back over a hundred years. Only this time, the oppressors are black.

I wonder if this turd bird even realizes that he admitted on record it is not about justice at all, it is about raw political power.

In most cases I’d agree but the conservatives hold a 6 to 2 advantage on the panel.

The panel is supposed to be balanced but under the Bush Admin two of the Repubs changed to Independents when two Dems left and Bush appointed two more Repubs. It was technically legal. :)

Seems to me that the DOJ and the civil rights division have set a precedent here and if White people happen to be wearing Pillow cases on their heads and carrying nooses at polling places, shouting we don’t like to be ruled by the black man then that would be equal justice under the law.

The question is why would it have to come to this for the idiots on the left to see the result of their actions?

Yep, that’s the reason this fiasco hasn’t gone away.

Voter intimidation was so blatant and there was video of these morons in front of the polling place clearly in violation of the voter rights act.

Then along comes Holder and his appointed thugs and basically dismiss it after which one his appointees tells a room full of DOJ lawyers they won’t enforce intimidation cases if those intimidated aren’t minorities.

Holder and his thugs are not fooling anyone.

And we practice.

Just read a column by Michael Medved who argues that Obama has a good chance of winning re-election by increasing his vote among Hispanics and Asian-Americans, even if his support among whites is much lower in 2012 than it was in 2008.

With this crowd, everything is about race, and the strategy may work, given that most members of non-white groups seem receptive to their racial message.

Sniff! Sniff!

Smells like pre-Civil War stuff with the abolutionists vs the slavers, with the slavers being represented as the anti-Lincoln obuma and his democrat fascists.

King obuma “The Stupid” probably doesn’t realize that Joshua Chamberlain left the Northeast 100 years ago, and he ain’t coming back.

King obuma’s Fat Momma Welfare Division won’t hack it on the battlefield.

Exactly right. We need a patriot to publicly stand before the Lincoln Memorial and challenge the cowards obuma and holder to have a debate about race. Broadcast live. On every radio and TV station.

Where is our John Adams, our Tom Paine and our Thomas Jefferson? I bet we can find a few. Thomas Sowell comes to mind...

Between you, me and the fencepost, king obuma is the anti-Lincoln, trying to reinstitute slavery.

He is the most despicable character to ever walk American soil.

Let me to ask you this:

Should we challenge the assorted secret service agents and ask why they’re loving and protecting obuma?

These secret service pigs are protecting obuma because either they agree with obuma’s commie agenda or they’re merceneraries, in it for the cash.

Help me out and give me your opinion...

whites voted 55% for McPalin in 2008.

normally that is more than enough to win for any candidate who nabs the white vote

now it's estimated to take 57%

and will rise if amnesty takes root

you can thank more and more minorities streaming in even the legal ones and having more and more babies than whites since the 70s now

the chickens have now come home to roost and America becomes a non white majority nation much like Brasil which is a major goal for progressives...because then they have a lock on power

i doubt it can be stopped peacefully and it will likely be horrible for anyone who will have to endure it....i am very pessimistic for my descendents

the only immigrant groups I know who ape majority "white" vote are Vietnamese and Sikhs...younger Cubans are less likely to support our values than their folks were

latinos vote left for the most part since they self identitfy as minorities...in the case of Amerindian ones...racial minorities

the outlook for protestant latinos is a little better but they are a real minority

Well said...The USCCR is empowered by law as a commission to oversee that every person in the country is not deprived of their civil rights.

This current fiasco is the result of a Justice Dept trying to dismiss an obvious case of voter intimidation that probably 80% of the people in this country know to be true.

This commission only has eight people on it and they don’t seem to be able to do their job because of their political beliefs. Think what a monumental problem the Justice Dept has with the hundreds and probably thousands they have when being run by the likes of Holder and his appointed thugs.
