A Metro Police radio recording reveals new details about what happened in the minutes leading up to an officer-involved shooting at a Summerlin Costco last month that left a Las Vegas man dead.

The recording originally was posted on radioreference.com, which broadcasts live public safety audio feeds and archives law enforcement radio recordings. Portions of the audio also have been posted to YouTube.

A little dated, but some more info on the Costco shooting.

Metro Police spokesman Bill Cassell said Monday that police haven’t authenticated the audio, but he said he has listened to a portion of the recording.

"The recordings speak for themselves," he said. "When you listen to the recording, it demonstrates the calmness and professionalism of how the situation was handled."

Well that settles it. No investigation needed.

I’m impressed on how quickly they were able to release the video. It only took 30-some days.

So... they calmly and professionally shot and killed him?

Is that what gets the pass these day?

OK, just remember, when you shoot back, do so calmly and professionally...

They sure did "handle" the situation, didn't they.

I think they’re still having “technical difficulties” with the Costco surveillance videos.

Audio only, eh...

well, that couldn’t have been recorded after the fact and released, what, 30 days after the incident, now could it?

“In the recording, a police dispatcher says a man, later identified as 38-year-old Erik Scott, is acting erratically while throwing store merchandise and is possibly high on drugs in the Summerlin Costco, 801 South Pavilion Center Drive. “

If he had a gun and was shooting it, then the police did the right thing. That is what they are trained for.

His gun was never out of it’s holster. He was a West Point Grad and had a CCW which got Costco’s knickers in a knot. They don’t allow legal carry but have no signs posted.

That is a big IF...

The tapes only talk about the few minutes before the shooting. I want to hear the 911 call FROM THE BEGINNING and SEE the videos backing those slanderous accusations FIRST.

Then we will see.

There is a reason that has NOT happened. It may NEVER happen.

If he had a gun and was shooting it...

...that would have been a completely different situation.

Have there been any reports of mysterious deaths of people who came in contact with the videos?

If the tapes have not been released yet,
they won’t be,

because they show that the cops murdered this man.

There were immediately excuses about the video. 4 cameras and none worked right? Anyone the tapes were sent to a California forensics lab. Supposedly.

That is why I qualified it with “If”. I don’t think that the tapes should be witheld, if the police shot the guy and the gun was holstered then the officer who shot him should be fired and charged with something. If the guy was violent and he was “going for his gun” and the video clearly shows that or hints at that then the officer made the right call. I just hope the full video is released.

I read somewhere that there was some kind of “technical difficulty” with the hard drive the videos were on. I’m curious if anyone saw those videos and then mysteriously died or disappeared. If you worked in the lab, or computer shop, or wherever this hard drive was sent, could you resist the temptation to burn a copy?

3 cops shot him. Twice in the chest and 5 shots in the back. Over 40 witnesses and only 12 back parts of the cops scenario.

If the guy was violent and he was “going for his gun”

There are witnesses standing 5 to 8 feet from Scott and they said the cops gave conflicting commands and Scott never went for his gun.

No cop has been found guilty of misconduct in Las Vegas since 1976.
