To: Seeing More Clearly Now

I was listening to her show the day that “Jade” called in for advice. Granted, the conversation veered from Jade’s particular situation to the question Dr. Laura brought up as to why we have the double-standard of acceptance of the use of the “n” word. Most of the posts I have read here are trashing the wrong person. Dr. Laura challenged why the black community of entertainment (comedy, movie, & rap music) seems to promote the use of this word and no one questions them on it. Where’s Al Sharpton, Jessie Jackson and the NAACP when the entertainment world is slinging it around? It’s a terrible word, but to threaten Dr. Laura’s livelihood because she challenged who has the right to use it just promotes the double-standard. I respect Dr. Laura more than the Reverends Al & Jessie and the NAACP because at the heart of it, she probably has done more to stop the use of this word than they have, or seem to even want to.
