DA, FBI investigating city of Oxnard

A team of investigators with the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office converged on Oxnard’s City Hall on Friday afternoon, locking down the building for several hours while they served a search warrant.

Late Friday the DA’s chief investigator, Rob Briner, came out of City Hall briefly and confirmed his office was conducting an investigation of the city of Oxnard in conjunction with the FBI. Briner offered no further information on the investigation.

Much of the city’s top management remained in the building throughout the afternoon and early evening, and “temporarily closed” signs were taped to front doors while deputies in green polo shirts stood guard in the lobby.

The warrant came after several top city officials were interviewed by investigators, city sources said.

That city has been taken over by illegals the past 20 years. Easy to be corrupt when your constituents don’t dare raise a ruckus ;-)

” must be building permits or zoning. “

I tried to build there on the beach 20 years ago, but I refused to pay the graft. Sold the lot.

Probably Checks bouncing, and city manager making a million dollar salary, but what the hell it’s all free enterprise.

My old home town. Lots of Democrat/Hispanic coziness in local government there.

Since the linked Ventura Star article doesn't say anything about party affiliation, is it safe to assume they're all 'rats?

My brother tried to do business with Oxnard twenty years ago. Said it was absolutely corrupt.

It’s also probably safe to say that very soon Atty Gen. Holder will be calling the Feds off of this case. Holder will probably fire anyone in the U.S. Attorney’s office there who had anything to do with this raid.

Your brother was spot on. I don’t mind a minor shakedown, but I draw the line at 50 grand ;-)

Sounds like a disgruntled former employee is spilling the refried beans on graft in the big projects going on there...

In some areas of California 50 grand is merely a down payment.

When this Pelosi/Reid/Dodd/Frank recessions started, Liz and I commented that we would probably see libs all over “spilling the beans or in some cases Brie”.

Just for starters, if you wanted a beach lot approved, you had to hire the planners’ wife, who just happens to be a landscape architect. $ 10,000 out of the gate....for next to nothing in the way of lot improvement.

Corruption is rampant.

Since the linked Ventura Star article doesn't say anything about party affiliation

Google News currently has about 35 articles listed about the scandal. Not even one of the articles identifies the party affiliations of the perps.
