Time Magazine’s Mark Halperin is pleading with Republicans not to use President Obama’s endorsement of the Ground Zero Mosque against Democrats in the Midterm Elections:
Time: . . . . Yes, Republicans, you can take advantage of this heated circumstance, backed by the families of the 9/11 victims, in their most emotional return to the public stage since 2001.
But please don’t do it. There are a handful of good reasons to oppose allowing the Islamic center to be built so close to Ground Zero, particularly the family opposition and the availability of other, less raw locations. But what is happening now — the misinformation about the center and its supporters; the open declarations of war on Islam on talk radio, the Internet and other forums; the painful divisions propelled by all the overheated rhetoric — is not worth whatever political gain your party might achieve.
It isn’t clear how the battle over the proposed center should or will end. But two things are profoundly clear: Republicans have a strong chance to win the midterm elections without picking a fight over President Obama’s measured words. And a national political fight conducted on the terms we have seen in the past few days will lead to a chain reaction at home and abroad that will have one winner — the very extreme and violent jihadists we all can claim as our true enemy.

Halperin and his ilk have blood on their hands, and he deserves no hearing at all. He and the journalistic community ignored the pleas of the American people for information about the then-unknown Obama and his platform during the election. Like Michelle Obama, he and his journalistic collection of vampires totally ignored us, and gave us puff pieces on his basketball skills.
When the accounting is done, Halperin will, in my opinion, stand in league with Obama for every American service man or woman killed in combat due to the Kenyan’s and his hunting party’s incompetence.

Governor Patterson has shown leadership on this when no one else has. Saying it is not a good idea, and offering NYS land elsewhere for this group to build their mosque. He has also called for dialogue with the Imam in charge to work out a solution. The Iman refused; Patterson was totally rebuffed.

I think your comment and graphic need to accompany every Mark Halperin article, quote, interview, book Halperin ever utters again. I despised Game Change as the left-wing propaganda it was. In the past, if some country had announced they were going to infiltrate our country, change the laws to follow their religion, and change the entire culture of the country, we would have declared war. Now we give them building permits and elect one of theirs to be commander-in-chief of our military.
Not only should the GOP use this, here’s an angle they should pursue: The self-declared bridge-builder in chief, king of the beer summit, foremost olive branch bearer to the Muslim world, had a crowd full of moderate American Muslims and a perfect chance to publically say something like this:
“Because America is committed to religious freedom and, indeed, was founded by religious refugees, Muslims have the right to do this, but it’s not building bridges, it’s inflaming passions. Those who oppose it are not un-American, Islamophobic or intolerant, they merely have a different view of what is appropriate in a place where an enormous tragedy—for some of them, a very personal tragedy—occurred. Please call upon the builders of this mosque as your brothers in the Islamic faith to move it to another site so that we can overcome our differences instead of tangling ourselves up in unnecessary conflict.”
Instead, he pandered, giving them the half he felt they wanted to hear, and not the part that would actually make things better, actually unite people of goodwill. Of all the charges against Obama, this one, the fact that he’s a BS artist at heart, is the one that cuts across political lines most effectively. It doesn’t matter if you’re pro-abort or pro-life, union or management, hate the rich or want them to get a tax cut, unless you’re a mind-numbed robot running on Kool-Aid, you aren’t going to like a president who is a used car salesman.
That goes double when when the issue he’s saying “seats made of genuine seat material, AM/AM radio, an old lady owned it and only drove to the church next door” about is related to the death of 3,000 Americans.

I've never understood how the West cannot accept the fact that Islam has been at war with us these past 1400 years. Islam has Europe by the throat. It is reaching for ours.
Yeah, I was really disappointed that so many big-time conservatives like Limbaugh and Hannity were treating Game Change as a serious source. I know Reid admitted saying the “Negro dialect” line, but I still don’t believe anything that was in that book unless it was massively corroborated.
BTW, avacado, Halperin famously wrote a memo telling ABC news staff to skew their reporting on Bush and Kerry in Kerry’s favor.
