Dream on! It all depends on the political winds. Right now democrats cant escape blame and try as they might, are not getting points for running up debts without real job creation. Next year, who knows ? What we do know is Republicans are not telling us much about themselves(for obvious reasons). And Democrats don't want to talk about themselves either.
The answer will not be found in a political party, but in national repentance and return to the Creator God Who favored this country and its founding.
Have they saved us over the last 25 years?
We know Dems won’t stop spending. Throw the bums out and then hold their feet to the fire.
Pray for America
Uh..How do you think we got here?
Heck yes, we can rely on the GOP to bring conservatism back to America. Remember the last time the Republicans managed to wrest power from the Democrats? Murder of unborn children was banned, steps were taken to stop Islam encroaching on American culture, and the border with Mexico got reinforced against foreign invasion. Even now in opposition, the GOP is vigorously putting pressure on Obama to actually follow the Constitution and release his long form birth certificate.
“Islam is peace” - George W Bush
Do I sound bitter?
Dr. Williams, like me, believes that the 'Pubbies aren't going to ride up in shining armor on white chargers to save us. The Republican's history of controlling the Congress isn't what you would want to see on anyone's resume, ESPECIALLY that of the people we hope will save us from the communists.
But, Dr. Williams essentially lays the case in his last paragraph when he quotes Thomas Jefferson. If we want our cherished nation, Constitution and way of life restored, we're going to have to do our own heavy lifting. The "saviors" from the GOP ain't coming!
I remember what happened in 1994, just weeks after the November election. Newtie got a $4million book advance, and Rush carried his water. From what I read of the situation, it was legal, but IMO it stunk to high heaven. Newt's moral authority was diminished before he was ever handed the gavel.
Perhaps republicans will save us. Republicans are only interested in maintaining the political status quo and keeping themselves in power. The GOP is as culpable as the democrats.
“Will Republicans Save Us?”
No.
The American people growing some huevos will save us, but not politicians—not a chance.
I got my “I told ya so!” ready for post November.
If Americans don’t light a fire under their arses, then all we’ll have is some shiny new politicians to show for our efforts at the ballot box.
This is entirely the wrong question to ask, and illustrates why there are so many FReepers who do stupid things like vote third party, and who are all the time whining about the Republicans.
Face it folks, NO POLITICIAN is going to "save" us. This idea that we just have to find the "right" magical special person who will then ride in on their white steed and set all our wrongs aright is simply ludicrous.
You want to know why we get sold down the river? Because WE don't do enough for ourselves. WE don't hold politicians' feet to the fire. WE don't exercise the oversight that we ought to be as citizens of an ostensibly representative republic. WE abrogate our own responsibilities, and then expect some white knight to come in and rescue us.
So, are the Republicans going to save us? No. But is whining about the Republicans going to save us, either? No. Is electing Republicans over Democrats going, in the aggregate, have a more positive effect on this country than continuing to run third party candidates to split the vote and put Dims into office? Yes. People, have some perspective.
OK, what party in your opinion, can save us? Please let me know
I agree
The punditocracy has recently been consumed with a debate over whether or not the Republicans will be able to repeal the recently-passed health care bill. Outside of self-professed conservative pundits, the conventional wisdom seems to be that the odds are prohibitively against repeal (or significant modification).
This Politico article typifies the attitude of those who doubt that repeal can be effectuated. It argues that the current outrage over the health care bill is merely a part of a "familiar pattern since New Deal days: Government programs from Social Security to Medicare that were launched amid incendiary arguments within a short time became sacrosanct - protected by a bipartisan consensus that was nowhere to be found at passage."
This is certainly one possible outcome for the President's health care bill, but it isn't the only one. Here is why repeal is a real possibility. 1. This bill is substantively different than Social Security and Medicare.
My colleague Jay Cost made a critical point a few days ago: Franklin Roosevelt and Lyndon Johnson made use of an ingenious social insurance system - promoting the idea that we all pay in today to take out tomorrow. It was consistent with American individualism. It was simple. It was intuitive. It was bipartisan.
Obama's new system has none of those virtues. This feature is what makes repealing or substantially modifying Social Security and/or Medicare so difficult. They are entitlements that are broadly given to the middle class, who also pays for them. To the extent these programs are redistributive, that redistribution is largely hidden. Everyone, from the poorest member of society to Bill Gates, has some stake in Social Security and Medicare.(Excerpt) Read more at realclearpolitics.com ...

The Constitution is the limiting document upon the feds; the federal government cannot become greater than the granting power. That is, the federal servant cannot become greater than its master........the states.
.......according to judicial analyst, and judge, Andrew P. Napolitano healthcare reforms amount to "commandeering" the state legislatures for federal purposes, which the Supreme Court has forbidden as unconstitutional. "The Constitution does not authorize the Congress to regulate state governments.
Nevertheless, the Congress has told the state governments that they must modify their regulation of certain areas of healthcare, they must surrender their regulation of other areas of healthcare, and they must spend state taxpayer-generated dollars in a way that the Congress wants it done.(Excerpt) Read more at newsmax.com............
Have they saved us yet? Didn’t think so.
Will be back around 5:00pm CDT to read post.
NO!
I have contempt for the notion that the US Constitution places limitations on federal power. The results are in. The Constitution creates virtually unlimited power.
If we admit this Consolidated Government it will be because we like a great splendid one. Some way or other we must be a great and mighty empire; we must have an army, and a navy, and a number of things: When the American spirit was in its youth, the language of America was different: Liberty, Sir, was then the primary object. We are descended from a people whose Government was founded on liberty: Our glorious forefathers of Great-Britain, made liberty the foundation of every thing. That country is become a great, mighty, and splendid nation; not because their Government is strong and energetic; but, Sir, because liberty is its direct end and foundation: We drew the spirit of liberty from our British ancestors; by that spirit we have triumphed over every difficulty:But now, Sir, the American spirit, assisted by the ropes and chains of consolidation, is about to convert this country to a powerful and mighty empire: If you make the citizens of this country agree to become the subjects of one great consolidated empire of America, your Government will not have sufficient energy to keep them together: Such a Government is incompatible with the genius of republicanism:
There will be no checks, no real balances, in this Government: What can avail your specious imaginary balances, your rope-dancing, chain-rattling, ridiculous ideal checks and contrivances?
