Posted on 08/18/2010 10:19:12 PM PDT by TaraP
Florida authorities have forbidden a church in Gainesville to burn the Quran on the anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks.
If the church burns the Qur'ans it would suffer a financial penalty. This is due to the municipal law in Gainesville, which prohibits the burning of books in public.
However, the church has announced that it plans to burn the books on September 11 in any case.

The American Flag can be burned but not the Koran?
If there is a site I can go to and contribute I am there.
Damn right. Burn all the American Flags you want. Protected free speech. It's who we are as a country, see.
take some contributions for the church fund.
tweak the dims and islamics.
The church should burn it and serve notice that any muzzies are welcome to come on church property .... at their own risk.
Looks that way....Our Country is going by the way of ISLAM!
What about converting several to toilet paper?
Protected free speech. It’s who we are as a country, see.
I hear you. I’m past sick and tired of hearing that B S.
What about converting several to toilet paper?
And send the TP to a Mosque and notify them after they’ve used a bunch of it.
So, just flush it down the toilet, or throw it in a Pig pen.
“Publish” something similar on charmin.
“This is due to the municipal law in Gainesville, which prohibits the burning of books in public.” So maybe they can have a book burning paty at a private residence would that be okay followed by a rave
America is a Christian nation so stand up or be stood on.Don’t like it!LEAVE!
Well then, I’ll burn two.
I bet the Florida “authorities” would have no problem if the church was burning books written by Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin, Sean Hannity, Mark Levin, Ann Coulter, etc. etc.
Or put it through a paper shredder or...
So... Gainsville is officially enforcing Sharia law now... isn’t that just ducky?
How long before that Church gets torched... with it’s entire congregation locked up inside?
That’s an ancient and Islamically sacred Muslim tradition, you know.
If this Church follows through on this (and I hope a collection is taken to pay their fine and property taxes, as we can be sure their exempt status will be promptly revoked) they might want to revert to the old Colonial practice of coming to Church fully armed and post a guard outside at all times, 24/7. Search all new-comers for explosive vests before they get in the door.
Get ready to meet Jesus anyway, because when the mudsquats want to kill you, they usually find a way.
The “outraged Muslim” mob attacks on Churches and Synagogs haven’t started in America as they are common elsewhere the Muslims have infiltrated or conquored... yet. As their relative population grows, however, we can plan on it.
Get ready, America; prepare, Church.
Capitulation and appeasement will not save you.
Yeah - there's a crowd I want to associate with.
Hmmmm....Is there a law against burning individual pieces of paper in public??? Let’s say those torn one by one from a certain book???
Florida school district bans Bibles on Religious Freedom Day
July, 1 2010
Maitland-based Liberty Counsel filed a lawsuit Thursday to overturn a ban on Bible distribution on public school campuses in Collier County.
According to the Liberty Counsel, the Collier County School Board allowed World Changers to distribute free Bibles to students during off-school hours on Religious Freedom Day, but now the school officials claim that Bibles do not provide any educational benefit to the students and the distribution should stop...
SO get rid of the Holy Bible and Welcome the Koran?????
You are right just WOW!
What is happening to our Country?
Burn a Koran day. I like it.
Well if the Church is private property why are they referencing the law about burning books in public? I dont understand why the church is being threatened with a fine I mean to say I undestand why the fine threat is there as in intimidation but it seems as if they do it in private the law would be mute——
“The ‘outraged Muslim’ mob attacks on Churches and Synagogs haven?t started in America as they are common elsewhere the Muslims have infiltrated or conquored... yet.”
Coming soon. Of course, the results in these parts (Texas) won’t be what they’re used to. And we’ll also probably be on the front lines thanks to our useless Southern border (thanks, Goodhair, even though you’re infinitely better than White). Still, they’ll find out soon enough that “Don’t mess with Texas” isn’t just a catch phrase.
Blue states, though? Even after Keller and McDonald, they’re still mostly unarmed victims by law. Esp in churches.
It’s going to get ugly. And bloody. Seas and messes of it.
They should have a church BBQ and use it for fuel, to BBQ the pork ribs and so on. Anyone who brings a Koran to burn gets in free.
Can they burn Bibles?
Does the city have a waste incinerator?
To paraphrase Andrew Jackson, “the judge has made his decision, now let him enforce it.”
If more Americans took this approach, we’d see fewer losses of freedom. Al Pacino in “And Justice for All” said: “Contempt? I have nothing but contempt for this court.” Do’t we all?
Atheism will not protect you from the Islamic sword at your throat.
thanks to obozo we are...
Forbidden by whom? Do they own the book? Do they own the fire?
The bureaucrats and judges should be told to go screw.
“You stay out of this Glinda”
“Rubbish, you have no power here, now be gone before someone drops a house on you too.”
I’d gladly pay the penalty. “She’s a witch! Burn her!”
Wrap the Koran in an American Flag. Problem solved
Just lay the damn book on the steps and let all the parishioners step on it as they come into the church!
Yeh, let's burn books --- that'll show them what conservatism in America stands for! Back to the caves!
What American principles are you, supposed conservatives, are you trying to conserve when you advocate and cheer book-burning?
Sprinkle them with holy water. They’ll burst into flames automatically.
How about putting it in a pig pen then? If you purchase it it is your property to do with as you wish. Or are you against private property?
Heck, I'm amazed that the Church's Insurance Underwriter hasn't called in a panic demanding to know what in heck the Church leadership is thinking.
It's like asking, "Well, given that you are against murder, are you, then, against gun ownership."
It's a sad comment on the state of this country that a conservative does not know the difference between what is legal and what is right.
I think that burning books, any of them, is unAmerican. We attack speech we don't like with more speech.
From a completely different angle: attacking Koran (or any other book) is like leftist attacks on guns. You and I know that guns don't kill people; people do. The same is with Koran or Communist Manifesto: neither takes away our freedoms or affects us in any way. What does us damage is people that believe in Koran and/or Communist Manifesto. That is who our enemy is, not things like books or guns.
Today, leftists similar to book-burners of Nazi Germany or Soviet Russia are attacking guns. Tomorrow it will be some other things --- maybe even copies of our Constitution. You and I should take no part of attack on things: not to be in the company of Commies is a sufficient reason. More to the point, focus on things (guns, books) detracts us from focusing on the real enemy (which is why leftists always used that tactic). In addition, when people become used to burning books, it is easy to refocus them on the books they previously loved. (in other words, your favorite books may receive the same treatment some day). That is essentially why bookburning was always considered unAmerican. Apparently, no longer.
