This is a radical break from journalistic convention, I realize, but today I'd like to give credit where it's due specifically, to President Obama. Quiet as it's kept, he's on a genuine winning streak.
It's hard to remember that the inauguration was just 19 months ago. Expectations of the new president were absurdly high. If Obama had done backflips across the Potomac River, when he reached the other side he'd have faced probing questions about why it was taking him so long to cure cancer, solve the Arab-Israeli conflict and usher in an age of universal peace and prosperity.
But look at what he's accomplished in just the past few weeks. Let me highlight four recent headlines:
Last U.S. Combat Troops Leave Iraq. Obama campaigned as an early and vocal opponent of the Iraq War, calling it a distraction from the more important conflict in Afghanistan. When he took office, there were about 160,000 U.S. troops in Iraq on the heels of George W. Bush's combat surge. Obama said he would bring our combat forces home and he did ahead of schedule.
Before dawn on Thursday, the last U.S. combat brigade crossed the border into Kuwait, effectively ending the military misadventure Bush named "Operation Iraqi Freedom." About 50,000 American military personnel remain in the country to train Iraqi government forces, protect U.S. installations and conduct special forces operations.
We leave behind a messy, uncertain political situation, which the Iraqis will have to sort out. We also will have to deal with the most disturbing geopolitical consequence of Bush's elective war: The theocratic dictatorship in Tehran, its ambitions no longer checked by Saddam Hussein, is much closer to its goal of making Iran a nuclear-armed regional superpower.

Don’t they drug test reporters any more? I want some of whatever it is that this guy is smoking......

I’m actually a little dizzy after reading that.
I think he means every word of it. Obama’s done enough damage that it’s gonna take a lot of work to repair it all. Of course libs love him. I just don’t think they realize how the normal people see all of this.
He is on a roll allright, even in Illinois the dems don’t want to be associated with him, and dems everywhere are scrambling to avoid the flak of his ground zero mosque support. Keep it up Eugene, LOL!
“genuine winning streak”? Then I’ll be horrified to see his simply winning streak, not to mention a losing one...
Gene’s off his meds.Again.
Isn’t he always
There is no doubt that he means every word of it. He’s a idiot
Great find, and neither will I
President Bush has now a higher approval rating then the arrogant pos who currently resides at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave
The truth is no firend of this Obama fluffer.
How about numerous trips to the Golf Links and racking-up frequent flyer miles at Air Force One's (and taxpayer's) expense? And what about Spain, lamebrain? People can't find work or pay mortages on time and you go 'crickets' on perhaps the biggest display of lavishness ever, by Michelle The ToneDeaf Queen since cake was invented? "Eat me", in the words of a triple-layer, coconut covered, chocolate dessert.
Maybe BP wasn't a shakedown, but what do you call a deal made sans any court involvement or legal representation to the party at fault- Let's Make A Deal? Not quite, as the CEO had to choose 'Door Number Three' and came away with a donkey and a goat. Monty Hall would be agast. Robinson, on the otherhand, wets his pants at the raw display of power by a guy whose Chicago Street would expect no less from him.
Eugene also fails to enumerate the numerous and frequent usages of the Race Card throughout these many months to further Zero's agenda on the Hill and to suppress opponents of out-of-control government spending in general. 'Bring people together', hardly. I have never hated liberals more than during this administration and I don't care what color they are.
OK, "teabagger" may not be racist because people of any race may indulge in it, however, only certain people of low character would participate in the furtherance of it's usage. (this may be too personal for Eugene given his proximity to Obama's 'parts' as demonstrated by this article). But, let's not forget that opposing anything Sheik Obama proposes is racist- ask Harry Reid re: the HealthCare debate.
Keep sucking-up, Eugene. And throw more frosting on all the debt we little people and our children will be on the hook for as this clown tries to 'stimulate' a private economy with more 'public' investment. If you weren't so stupid, I'd bounce your head off a mix master.
And in other news... winning is losing, dark is light, and hot is cold. A libtard “journalist” said so, so it must be true.
Eugene Robinson wanted George W. Bush to rescue Obama from the mosque issue a day before this column was written.
a comment from the article says this:
“After every Eugene sentence I hear a rimshot and laugh track. And off in the corner facing the wall is the great jokester himself E. Robinson, sucking his thumb and adjusting his well worn presidential kneepads.”
ROFLMAO!
