Holdout stoked tension on Blagojevich jury [retread poster zotted]

John Grover, 52, a juror from Joliet, said he grew so frustrated after three days of deliberating on the same charge that he yelled at the woman who refused to join the other 11 in agreeing to convict.

"I gave her a piece of my mind," Grover said. "If it wasn't for that one lady, we'd have had him convicted on probably 80 percent of (the indictment)."

I posted this excerpt because of the quote that I bolded.

For Pete's sake anybody that has the guts to talk to the president that way is to be commended, not convicted. For a former US Marine to try and bully others in the jury and then discuss it in the press without a hint of shame shows that maybe the jury system isn't working as well as it should. He obviously isn't playing with a full deck.

God bless the lone holdout!

Whats to bless? She was probably on the take. I’m upset that Fitzgerald deliberately jumped the gun so that they wouldn’t catch all of 0bama’s friends. (if they did would we hear about it?)

God bless the lone holdout!

Are you mentally ill? The "lone holdout" was a political operative under orders not to convict.

The holdout had been saying to her friends that she’d find Blago ‘not guilty’, no matter what, during the court process.

Ease off, Lurker. It is a n00b, and Axelgreasy has sent a msall platoon of scum to work FR, starting about sixteen months ago. This is just another of the pondscum floated out from the White Hut basement. Their purpose is to divide, cause anger and elicit drag and pasteable remarks from FR to impugn by posting on sites like DU. We have identified several of these agents provocateur. They are for now allowed to continue ... but they won’t last much longer. Scum and villainy always outs itself.

Maybe it's time to institute a critical thinking / logic test before granting posting rights on FR.

Personally, I enjoyed the first Blago trial and look forward to the second (though I think Fitzy is all bluster on this).

Until I can drive through Illinois with guns in the vehicle and studded tires on same, I care not how IL continues on its merry way.

In theory, I like the idea of jury nullification. In theory, it would involve a brave citizen saying "This law is unconstitutional, and I will not vote to convict anyone under this law." In theory, this is a good thing.

In practice, it seems to always be a Democrat operative crossing his or her arms and saying, "I don't care how corrupt that SOB is -- I have my orders and I am not going to let you convict him. Nyah, nyah, nyah."

I would not ask God to bless a liar. But I don't have to worry about that, he knows the truth. In Chicago a "bought" juror is to be expected. Careful what you ask for.

Yeah, it’s sickening that he was outraged by an insult to Obama.

They’ll try again to get a conviction without implicating Obama and his people.
Let’s hope someone on that jury too smells a rat- and is not worshipful of Obama.

Who do you think is easier and cheaper to pay off?

A juror or a Judge?

A Judge has to be payed repeatedly with ‘favors’ and cash.

A juror you can just hand a bottle of liquor and 100 bucks and they’re just happy to go get wasted...

"I swear to God I thought I saw stars," Grover said. "I was going to go through the prosecution table right to him. I've never heard anything like that in my life. Tell the president of the United States to go 'F' himself. Where I come from, that doesn't happen."

Where I come from, it happens all the time.

Obviously, the Marine has anger management issues (ie nuts). You can play it off any way you want, but he is a bully and you are too.

I’m not blessing any juror, except to say it’s hard to be the lone holdout and sustain. Most folks fold.

I do think this outcome hurts Obama more, and also hurts Chi-town political corruption, as the voters see there ain’t no rescue forces — it’s up to them.

You tell Mr. Axelrod that I still know some of those kids he used to have dropped off for him at the Anderson HQ near Lake under the "L" tracks.

A couple of them are itching for some real public payback. Tell him to think "Catholic Priest" and that there's no Statue of Limitations in Civil Court.

Hey, maybe Blago is guilty as hell on all counts.

The fact is he wasn’t charged with cursing at the president, I hope this juror wasn’t just motivated by anger. I also find it strange sitting on a jury of a governor and saying you want to attack the former governor bc he cursed at the president.

I guess they don’t curse in the marines? /s

I know that you might feel important and wanted by sticking up for your buddy, but I promise you that my service to my country and my conservative credentials would make you reconsider such petty attacks. Maybe you think it is funny or cute to threaten someone via keyboard, but I think it is immature and silly. Besides, most the people that do that are about 5’4” and weigh a 120lbs soaking wet. If they do happen to be of decent stature, then they are mental midgets.

I really believe that many people become unglued (ie crazy) when they hear "salty" conversation. It upsets their delicate sensibilities.

This particular juror was so upset that he wanted to commit a felony and attack the former governor inside a courtroom. He realized that he couldn't do that and tried to intimidate a little old lady into convicting Blago for considering felonies when he himself was considering committing a felony. Ironic!
