“How many times does this have to be explained to you?
THE MAN INCLUDED A LIST OF HIS EMPLOYER’S CLIENTS (THE PARENTS)IN HIS “ PERSONAL EMAIL LIST”.”

And you know this, how? I need no explanation from someone who doesn’t know the whole story ... which, clearly, you do not. But thanks for offering.

The articles all say “a handful” of players parents. As a coach for many years, I can tell you that many parents became friendly or contacted me off topic or off the field about any number of things. They could easily end up in a personal computer at home...which he contends this is the case.

You have a right to your own opinion, but not to make up “facts.”

“The cause is that he sent partisan political e-mail to a list of people, that were not his personal friends, that were, in effect, the clients of his employer. This is the third time I have explained this.”

You do not know this to be true. You have obviously never coached or been coached by someone who becomes involved in the community and often, personally, with the kids and the parents. This guy wasn’t selling cars.

And, if he was guilty of anything, it was being zealous. Not mean spirited. There was nothing in the song that was worth being fired over. Sure they can...but that is the point. You can fire a guy for this, you can fire him for not calling you “comrade” in a few years, too. Wake up.

How many tiems must I tell you this?

The attitude that you have taken in this (I'm not condemning, just making an observation) is precisely the reason why the left gets away with all they do and the right is subjected to insult after insult after insult (often resulting in firings, resignations, prosecutions, etc, etc, etc.). Until WE stand up and say enough the left will continue using this form of censorship against us.

No, sorry. Disagree. The answer is to hold the Left to the same standard. To say it's wrong no matter who does it. The answer is not to say "It's ok because the other side does it".

This is a great analogy and they ABSOLUTELY should be held to the same standard.

When you’re a teacher sending an email to parents in your school district you need to keep potentially contreversial stuff out of it - or you need to remove the parents from the sender list. It does not matter how slight the knock is - and this is a VERY slight knock, imo - he HAS to know that it will not be taken that way. Politics is contreversial, these days more than any other in my 41 years. ANY kind of politics will be seen as contreversial and should be avoided. That’s what I mean by “stuff like that”.

Sorry for not being more specific.

Um, that’s what I said. WE need to tell the LEFT that THEIR behavior is not tolerable.

It’s a damn shame he’s been fired for being stupid.

I agree but the alternatives are worse.

But sometimes, there can be a positive outcome to a negative event.

I have a hunch he'll be ok. These things tend to work themselves out and I'd like to think he won't make the same mistake again.

This is what I was commenting on, sorry for lack of clarity:
The attitude that you have taken in this (I'm not condemning, just making an observation) is precisely the reason why the left gets away with all they do

I fail to see how my attitude has anything to do with why the left gets away with anything. I have consistently said hold everyone accountable to the same standard. As I see it in today's society the standard is you can get fired for things like this. The Left should be held equally accountable, as in the "Mmmm...Mmmmm...Mmmmm" song teacher case. No idea if they were or not but they certainly should have been.

I’m sorry, but taking the position you have when someone has engaged in harmless behavior that then is trumped up by those who disagree with him seems to me tacit approval for extremely bad behavior by the left, while the standard for the right is held at a level that is unattainable. Either the bar is set at the same level for both sides of the argument, or, we experience what we currently have - an inequality that the right will never be able to overcome.

A "thank you" note should be sent to the parents who objected and the school officials who reacted. They have provided enough free publicity to launch a new career for these two.

Freedom and freedom of individual enterprise work!

Now, will they appeal to the FCC to prevent the song's being heard on the radio and TV stations?

You’re disagreeing with me and then saying the same thing I’m saying . Apply the standard equally.

I’ll agree with you that (to the best of my knowledge) it has not been applied equally in the past. I think that’s what you’re saying - that while we apply the standard to ourselves the Left does not.

I don’t think that means we should change how we apply the standard to our side. I think it means we should make sure the standard gets applied on the other side as well.

To clarify: I do not think that the man in this case committed any offense warranting his being fired. The threshold that has been applied to Conservatives and Republicans is not equivalent to the threshold applied to liberals/progressives/demoncRATS. Someone does some minor indiscretion such as this and he/she is crucified. A liberal commites real offenses and is absolved of all guilt (sans William Jefferson being found with $90k in his freezer and liberals rally around him to support him; Jesse Jackson makes obviously racist comments about Jews and liberals rally around him; Alec Baldwin calls for the stoning of Congressman Hyde and his wife and children and liberals rally around him - all things that if committed by a Conservative or Republican would result in something quite different in reaction and condemnation). You cannot call for a standard to be applied equally when the standards being used are unequal to begin with. The first step must be to quantify and delineate what the standard to be applied is. That doesn’t exist.

Yeah, well, let’s see on one side we have an acknowledged communist who tried to MURDER people and on the other

How about this example from today's news. Beaverton's "Crash the Tea Party" teacher resigns as his dismissal loomed. Teacher using school resources to do politics gets canned. In this case it was a liberal teacher.

“District officials would not say why Levin was facing dismissal, but that it followed an internal investigation into his use of public resources and time spent at school.”

Different case altogether. Coach was on his own time, not using school property and his own personal computer, email and friend list. Nice try. But as I say to your namesake all the time, get back to me when you have something of value to add, OK? Why are you so desperate to be Democrat light?

Grasslands is a community...a well off one...just inside Williamson county about half way tween Franklin centre and Nashville’s southern boundary....it straddles Hillsboro Pike.

Lots of rich music industry types and trial lawyers too...probably the second highest concentration of lefties in a right wing county outside of the Leipers Fork community about 15 miles further SW

I live between the two ...more to the east...Goose Creek community (as in the 70s bluegrass for those who are old enough to recall)

“According to the article the email list contained parents.”

He emailed to a list “which included parents from Grassland Middle School, where he coached football.”

It doesn’t say ALL parents or that he obtained them from a school list. If the guy had some of their emails because he knew them, or they had emailed HIM, if they were there because they wanted to sell him a car? Or a house? Or they liked him and invited him out for a drink or dinner? We don’t know, do we?
