Pentagon Issues Final Fort Hood Review

The Department of Defense Friday released its final review of recommendations from an independent report ordered in the wake of the deadly Nov. 5, 2009 shooting rampage at Fort Hood’s Soldier Readiness Center that left 13 dead and more than 30 wounded.

The independent report was released in January and Secretary of Defense Robert Gates said then it "raises serious questions" about the military's ability to cope with security threats within its ranks.

The Pentagon said Friday it will place a priority on implanting recommendations that will strengthen policies and procedures in a number of areas including the education of commanders about the symptoms of potential workplace violence and ensuring them access to appropriate information in personnel files throughout a service member’s career; improvement of information-sharing with partner agencies and among different installations; expansion of the emergency response capabilities of installations, and hiring additional health care providres, especially in the mental health field.

“The tragic shooting of military personnel at Fort Hood in November 2009 underscored the need for the DoD to review its approach to force protection and to broaden its force protection policies, programs, and procedures to go beyond their traditional focus on hostile external threats,” the Pentagon said Friday.

“The follow-on review final report recommends concrete actions across a range of issues that all contribute to the safety and health of our military forces.”

Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, the Fort Hood psychiatrist charged in the deadly shooting, remains in custody in Bell County, awaiting an Article 32 hearing—the equivalent of a civilian grand jury review—that will determine whether he stands trial.

He’s charged with 13 counts of premeditated murder and could receive the death penalty if convicted.

Let's see how many ways they can avoid saying "jihad" or "islamist terror" or worst act of terror on American soil since September 11, 2001.

“the need for the DoD to review its approach to force protection and to broaden its force protection policies”

Oh, I know...they’re going to let us all carry weapons! NOT. Effin’ idiots - if one or two people in the room had been carrying, there’s an excellent chance that casualties would have been WAAAY lower.

Don’t know if my dander can get much higher on this issue...

I’m guessing they do not mention the m-word or the j-word or the t-word, etcetera. I anticipate mind-numbing bueaucracy.

What do you bet the government will recommend that soldiers it's training to kill the enemy should be armed?

The very idea that people we trust to work in teams to kill the enemy with advanced weapons cannot be trusted to wear a sidearm on base is beyond me.

The solution is to blow the defense budget on more jobs for worthless graduates of leftist social "science" programs.

Of course.

“raises serious questions” about the military’s ability to cope with security threats within its ranks.

I’m pretty sure I drew this conclusion sometime prior to midnight on 5 Nov. 2009.
Could somebody send me a check for the amount they spent on this “investigation”?

“In conclusion the Army must engage in more minority outreach and find and promote more diverse officers. The Army must eliminate any bias towards Muslims in the ranks and must strive to acknowledge the contributions and achievements made by Islam and implement educational programs to achieve these objectives. It’s also desirable to attract and recruit students studying in the U.S. from Islamic countries into the officer corps so as to achieve said objectives.” I can just see some starry eyed diversity compliance officer writing such crap and the generals in the Pentagon reading this thinking this is brilliant let’s implement it!

Well I just read the 80+ pages of the report.

There is no mention at all in the report that the killer was a practicing Muslim who was shouting “Allah Akbar” as he put bullets in the heads of Americans.

Anyone reading the report would have no inkling whatsoever this was a clear instance of a radicalized Islamic extremist murdering US military personnel. The truth is being erased in front of our eyes.

It beggars the imagination. Read it for yourself if you can stomach it. God help us all.

In reading the reports, it surprised me the military personnel did not have the same “active shooter” training the civilian police had. Once the civilian police were on the scene, the killer was put down in LESS THAN 90 SECONDS.
