Valerie Plame 'Fair Game' Movie Tosses Name Leaker Richard Armitage Down Memory Hole
NewsBusters ^ | August 21, 2010 | P.J. Gladnick

Posted on 08/21/2010 8:16:43 AM PDT by PJ-Comix

The only way we even know the name of Valerie Plame (and fame seeking hubby Joe Wilson) is that that former Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage leaked her name as a CIA officer to columnist Robert Novak. That is what set in motion the long drawn out Plamegate affair in which only Scooter Libby was convicted of something other than leaking her name. So you would figure that the supposedly biographical movie scheduled for a November USA release about Plame, Fair Game, would feature Armitage front and center as the principal villain. Right? Wrong. The fact is that "Fair Game" has tossed Richard Armitage down the memory hole. The man who is responsible for the reason that any of us even know who Valerie Plame is appears nowhere in the extensive IMDB cast credits for this movie.

Of course, the aforementioned Scooter Libby (David Andrews) who did not leak her name is listed. Also listed in the cast is the Armitage-leaked name of Valerie Plame (Naomi Watts), fame seeking hubby Joe Wilson (Sean Penn), Nervous Analyst #1 (Louis Ozawa Changchien), Chauvinist Analyst (Sean Mahon), (Head Paparazzo (Harry L. Seddon), Four Seasons Waitress (Satu Rautaharju), Starbucks Employee (Angela Lewis), and Turkish Embassy Guest (Marsall Factora). However, as for the person who made the "Fair Game" movie possible by leaking Valerie Plame's name, he appears nowhere on the cast credits.

Armitage leaked her name. Wilson became well known by going on 60 Minutes. Valerie was not a secret agent, having been outed by the traitor Aldridge Ames years before. I'm sure that this film will be a waste of celluloid.

Armitage was on Charlie Roses alternative reality talk show the other night. They seemed like old buddies.

IMDB lists "Joe Wilson (Book)" in the writing credits. So it appears the movie is based on his book.

I half expected to see Oliver Stones name somewhere in the credits.

George Bush said he'd fire the people who revealed Plame's name, and he did. He canned Secretary Powell and Armitage.

End of story.

Now, to return to what Fitzgerald had going on ~ it was something like this ~ the story of his life. He had obtained all the truth there was so he went looking around for an elderly Jew to prosecute anyway.

When he returned to Chicago and got another juicy case prosecuting Blagoyevich he forgot to bring any witnesses.

I'm waiting for him to find that next elderly Jew to prosecute anyway.

Did I suggest Fitzgerald was possibly stupider than he was corrupt?

It's a tossup Fur Shur.

It looks like it might be just a limited release. It’s scheduled for right after the Nov election. They’ll have plenty of ads for it before the election to remind voters that Republicans are evil.

"This movie will be a HUGE box office failure."

In the US, yes. But internationally, it will probably do fairly well. For example, "In the Valley of Elah", another anti-war movie, generated a paltry $6M domestically, but made another $22 million internationally. The good news is it probably didn't recoup its production, marketing and distribution costs. "Rendition", another clunker, made $9.7M domestically and $17M internationally. It too probably lost money as a whole, but these movies aren't made to make money. They're made to make a political point, and they're financed by the studio's other more commercially successful releases.

Summit Entertainment is releasing "Fair Game". Summit has released a couple commercially successful movies in its 14-year history - like "Knowing" ($79M), but it's swimming in cash recently because it is the studio that owns and distributes the "Twilight" movies - which have of course have generated close to a billion dollars in box office and home video sales. Essentially, the American teenage consumer is underwriting "Fair Game". That's how Hollywood works - they sell crap to our kids so they can afford to lose buckets of money on their anti-American screeds.

I can’t imagine that films about mundane office politics will be box office winners. Maybe the sequel “Post-Its” will recount the harrowing tale of an overworked junior executive who is fired when caught smuggling a ten pack of post-its home in her purse. It is learned that the post-its were work related but Corporate Henchmen maintain that they were for personal use. Naomi Watts stars with Sean Penn as the idealistic, courageous Attorney trying to clear her name.

Good ole traitor Armitage and his accomplish in the cover-up, Henry Kissinger, let Scooter Libby hang out to dry.

Real patriots, both of them (Henry and Richard) — NOT!!!!!

Had he come out in the beginning, Varerie and her limp- d _ _ k husband Wilson would have non stories and no one would know, or care, who they are.

Who cares anyway — except for the liberal MSM and rabid Democrats.

This movie will be a HUGE box office failure.

But because Sean Penn is in it, it will win at least one Golden Globe/Academy award.

Colin Powell certainly, and Bush - oddly enough - may bear more than a little responsibility here. Armitage did come forward to the Fitzgerald very soon after he (Fitzgerald) was appointed special counsel. I'm not entirely sure if Bush was then made aware of the fact that it was Armitage "leaked" the name, but it's pretty clear from press accounts that Armitage told Powell that he leaked the name even before Fitgerald was appointed. If Powell told Bush, then Bush should have made a statement. Of course, it's possible Powell didn't tell Bush.

In any event, at that point, Powell should have publicly fired Armitage, clearly stating why Armitage was fired. If he had done that, none of this would have blown up into the story that it did. But, Armitage and Powell are both little bitches, and this played out EXACTLY the way they wanted.
