Vatican joins protests as France expels Gypsies [ flights followed a roundup of illegal immigrants]

The Vatican has joined in criticism of the French government for a campaign to round up and deport Gypsies living illegally in the country.

French immigration authorities put 130 members of the Gypsy, or “Roma,” minority on a plane to Romania on August 19. The previous day, another 86 had left. While French officials say that the departures are voluntary, they have threatened to expel any Roma people who decline to leave voluntarily. The flights followed a roundup of illegal immigrants living in Gypsy camps.

Archbishop Agostino Marchetto, the secretary of the Pontifical Commission for Migrants, said that it was “against European norms” to expel members of a particular minority group. “One cannot generalize and take an entire group of people and kick them out,” he argued.

Romania’s President Traian Basescu has also protested the French policy, and said he would bring his argument against the “xenophobic” campaign to the European Commission.

I believe Sheriff Andy Taylor kicked them out of Mayberry, too. Although I think Millie wanted to marry one of them.

‘We already have ‘the travelers’ our own South Carolinian gypsies.’

I believe that the travelers originated as Irish tinkers, possibly descended from the Roma.

The police there are always using that as an excuse. Back when FYR was falling apart the Italians were screaming they were being taken over by the Albanians.

Archaeology suggests the Albanians used to OWN Italy, so no one was particularly disturbed by the idea and didn't say "Oh, those poor Italians".

Now it's the gypsies again.

Guess who doesn't want his own people back?

They are not illegal immigrants, they are EU citizens. They leave hellholes like Romania and Bulgaria to go to richer EU countries and their “trade.”

I don’t know a lot about this recent action, so correct me if I’m wrong, but the issue that the Vatican has isn’t with illegal immigration; it’s with ethnic discrimination. There are plenty of Muslim / African illegal immigrants in France, but France permits them to remain. Yet France is targeting the Roma for expulsion. Why? Because Muslims and Africans vote and participate in the political / social structures, and the Roma don’t.

What’s even worse is that the Muslims / Africans are invaders, moving to France in part to effect social change of what it means to be French. The Roma, on the other hand, are nomads, who have moved in and out of France since long before the fifth Republic, or even the first Republic. They don’t have a homeland, per se. (The name Roma has nothing to do with the name Romania.)

***The word “gypsy” was invented under the mistaken belief they were coming into Europe from Egypt***

And when someone sells you something that is no good you realize you have been “gyped”.

There’s another term for that ~ but you get the idea of who’s higher on the totem pole the second you realize this other term, “gyped”, is still in use.

The Nazis rounded up the Roma Gypsies as well as the Jews when they decided to exterminate certain ethnic groups. Would it be okay for Americans to round up particular illegal groups such as the Chinese, African American, etc. and allow the rest to stay?

No.

France deported 130 Roma and 120 Muslims so far.

France needs to deport 10 more Muslims for the sake of equality.

The only Roma homeland in Europe was called “The Republic of Rugosa”. During one lengthy period the warrior caste associated with the Romni tribes actually became the primary military force of the city state......................This is the very place the first Romni appeared to Western and Southern Europeans, the Dalmatian Coast being part of the West in those days. This is also where they were “INADVERTENTLY” named gypsies......................Good brief article on this may be found at: http://balkanproject.org/roma/history1.shtml I’ve read most of the documents identified in this piece.
