It’s hard to be an Obama sycophant these days. Your hero delivers a Ramadan speech roundly supporting the building of a mosque and Islamic center at Ground Zero in New York. Your heart swells and you’re moved to declare this President Obama’s finest hour, his act of greatest courage.
Alas, the next day, at a remove of 800 miles, Obama explains that he was only talking about the legality of the thing and not the wisdom - upon which he does not make, and will not make, any judgment.
You’re left looking like a fool because now Obama has said exactly nothing: No one disputes the right to build; the whole debate is about the propriety, the decency of doing so.
It takes no courage whatsoever to bask in the applause of a Muslim audience as you promise to stand stoutly for their right to build a mosque, giving the unmistakable impression that you endorse the idea. What takes courage is to then respectfully ask that audience to reflect upon the wisdom of the project, and to consider whether the imam’s alleged goal of interfaith understanding might not be better achieved by accepting the New York governor’s offer to help find another site.
Where the president flagged, however, the liberal intelligentsia stepped in with gusto, penning dozens of pro-mosque articles characterized by a frenzied unanimity, little resort to argument and a singular difficulty dealing with analogies.
The Atlantic’s Michael Kinsley was typical in arguing that the only possible grounds for opposing the ground zero mosque are bigotry or demagoguery. Well then, what about Pope John Paul II’s ordering the closing of the Carmelite convent at Auschwitz? Surely there can be no one more innocent of that crime than those devout nuns.

This is what they refer to as a victory mosque...it is what they build when they believe they have pummeled their enemy. It will be viewed as a western mecca...muslims from around the world will journey there on every 9/11 to celebrate. It must be stopped!
Liberals hear words like “decency” and sniff and say something like “You mean like Abu Grahbe?” or “This nation’s history of slavery and patriarchy...”
They are so divorced from non-judicial or legislative concepts of ethics or morality that they are like Philip K. Dick’s idea of androids—they look so much like us, but they are missing that most basic element: humanity.
You talk to them about this issue and they stare, like their hard drive is stuck. They’ve watched too much irony on TV, hung out with too many people they’re trying to impress with their multiculturalism, read too many Michael Moore, Al Gore and Noam Chomsky books to simply look at the situation and say, “This is wrong and must not happen.” They need to check in with The Nation to let them know what their morality should be.

Whatever they are, they have no problem whatsoever promoting the most egregious, indecent assault against the modern human - abortion.
They believe in humanity as a whole, but not as individuals—as you noted, with abortion they have sent MILLIONS of people to their very early graves in order to maintain their sense of “helping women achieve” something or other.
They care for humans in the abstract, as items to be dealt with in the politically-accepted way according to their weird belief system. Chomsky, Zinn, Gore, etc. are their prophets, their mullahs. If they thought it’d please that bunch they’d be for legalizing abortion for up to a year after birth. They are a death cult.

Building a Mosque in the vicinity of Ground Zero would indeed be yet another ‘Abominaton of desolation’ (Matthew 24:15,21,22, NIV) similar to the building the Dome of the Rock on the most revered holy place in the world, the ultimate desecration of The Temple Mount. I REFUSE to accept a cult of hate as a religion. No religion preaches hate as the Mohammedans do. I REFUSE to allow the argument to be framed in their terms. This is NOT a religious freedom issue. Each mistress knows full-well that he's having other affairs and knows full-well that he regularly declares his undying love to all the others as well as herself...but each mistress twists herself into pretzels explaining why her story is the truth and why the real Obama is the one revealed to her.
What's funny is that this isn't the way things play out in real life. In real life, the mistresses get together and chase the Lothario out of town...or murder him.
