An aide to Tony Blair told the News of the World that the book launches a full defence of the much-derided US president, saying he was the only man with the courage to take on Al-Qaeda.
"It is the biggest and most unapologetic defence of Bush and his ideas ever written," the paper quoted the aide as saying.
"It is basically an extended love letter. Tony says he was wowed by Bush's strength, courage and conviction and saw him as a highly intelligent and visionary friend.
"He says the Americans were the only ones with an effective vision on how to deal with al-Qaeda and Iraq."
If the comments are accurate, the book is sure open up old wounds in Labour, which is still trying to move on from the decision to invade Iraq and the damage done to its reputation by Mr Blair's slavish adherence to American demands.
Activists hoping for an apology for the war were instead greeted by the sight of Mr Blair insisting the international community should take a tougher stance over Iran.
The memoir, A Journey, will be published next month.

Actually that would be War and Decision by Douglas J. Feith, who was Rumsfeld's under secretary for defense policy. It lays out from end to end and in detail the administration's thinking on terrorism and the two wars and demolishes the leftist conspiracy theory BS. It's the book that historians will read when they're trying to figure out what actually happened. Or maybe this Blair book will be the other piece of the puzzle.
The left is being confronted with the reality that W won a great victory in Iraq and that their opposition was completely wrong.
If Democrats had their way, we’d be looking down the nuclear barrel of both Iran and Iraq.
This is heart-warming.
I remember reading that Cherie Blair complimented Bush for befriending their boys and she spoke of how friendly and kind Bush was in explaining his political views though many of them differed from the Blairs.
Mrs. Blair said that Bush was a better friend to them than the Clinton even though they and the Clinton were more aligned politically (on domestic issues).
Are there indications when? Upcoming midterm elections? Polls?
Bush’s book is slated to be released immediately after the midterms. He has said that he will begin speakiing about current affairs at that time. He wants to give O a full 2 years before commenting.
OK and thank you! GWB has made a steady rise in my character perception. That began way back when he heard of 9/11 first. I had to make do with what Dutch media had written and showed until then. Which was contrary to reality, it turned out to be.
