No Same-Sex Couples Advance in 'Today' Wedding Contest

Despite NBC's decision to allow same-sex couples to apply for its "Modern Love" wedding contest, there were none among the four finalists revealed this morning on the "Today" show.

When the call for entries opened earlier this summer, the "Today" show faced pressure from GLAAD after the network said couples needed to be eligible for marriage in the state of New York to enter. Executive producer Jim Bell met with GLAAD to discuss the contest and its rules and, following that meeting, "Today" extended the contest deadline and announced that it would allow same-sex couples to apply.

Viewers can now vote for their couple of choice at the "Today" website or on Facebook. The winner will be married on-air October 6th.

No they can’t. Only if the state allows Gay Marriage. Now if they film in Mass, Iowa or another state (I can’t remember which one) then they can have a gay marrage contest.

Same sex marriage is legal in the United States in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, Connecticut, Iowa, and the District of Columbia. It could soon be legal again in Calif. and if so, then the U.S. Supreme Court may eventually extend to all 50 states, as the Calif. case is a federal, not a state, court case.

Is it “discrimination” that no same-sex couple advanced to the finals? We all know that they wanted to make a political statement by allowing same-sex couples in this competition.

LOL. PC NBC reaps what it sows. I hope GLAAD protests until ever single contestant in the wedding contest is gay or transgendered.

Hey, I like your political statement - click - and turn it off. If nobody watches the “Today Show” does anything they do matter? Do big numbers of people still watch those programs?

I can't remember ever watching the Today Show period. Unless something was posted on FreeRepublic.com I didn't see it or hear about it.

I couldn't even tell you who hosts the show without GOOGLING it.

Your ‘CLICK’ is not alone. The sound of ‘CLICKS’ all over the country is very loud.

I love the quandary this puts the Left in. The only bright spot of the whole hyper-rights for Gays is that, if they get everything they want, then cold stats regarding the precarious nature of their lives may emerge.

The untold story here — and the dirty little secret about “same-sex marriage” — is that even the most ardent supporters of “same-sex marriage” are completely turned off by it.

I remember watching one of these Newlywed Game kind of shows a while back and there are three “normal” couples and then there was a gay couple, that Asian guy from Star Trek and his gay male partner - and they were winning!
