Amidst Obama's Falling Poll Numbers, MSNBC Tries to Suggest He Could Rebound Like Reagan

During the 3 p.m. MSNBC news hour Monday, anchor Chris Jansing asked the question and hosted an expert who supplied the seemingly desired answer. The question: Could President Obama make a mid-term comeback similar to President Reagan in 1982? The answer: Absolutely.

The two discussed the similarities of the situations faced by the presidents, and seemed to conclude that if the economy turns around, President Obama would almost certainly be re-elected.

It is a big if, but the short segment seemed quite focused on what would happen after the economy turns around. The two didn't bother to discuss what would happen if the economy continues to be stagnant, or takes a turn for the worse.

"Well you have a President facing a deep recession, high unemployment, dropping poll numbers, and a potentially game-changing midterm election. That was Ronald Reagan's first two years in office. Then, two years later, he won re-election in a landslide," stated MSNBC anchor Chris Jansing. "Could President Obama make the same comeback?"

Guest Allan Lichtman, presidential historian at American University, answered in the affirmative. "Absolutely," he responded. "They are kind of mirror images of each other."

After Lichtman explained how the two Presidents' situations are quite similar, Jansing asked her follow-up question. "If the economy starts to turn around in the next year to 18 months...is it likely to follow that Barack Obama will have a much easier time with re-election?"

"It will follow like night to day," Lichtman predictably answered. "And of course this all presumes the Democrats don't commit internal suicide by challenging [Obama] in the primaries."

Reagan was a good, humble, patriotic American.

Sorry zeroites....you'll have to find another tactic.

I don’t want that. I’m just sayin’......of course, it’s a fighting issue....I’m just pointing out what it would really take to get us out of this mess and I don’t even think that that would do it. We are really on the downhill side of a broken shit pipe, if you ask me.

Sure, a turn-around is a cinch, especially since the entire American media octopus campaigns and cheerleads for Obama every minute of everyday and they hated Reagan's guts. Or maybe America is actually capable of seeing thru the BS in a record amount of time and will judge this president as the total loser he is.

Fingers crossed.

Reagan took what Carter destroyed and built it into the biggest boom in USA history.

Mr Potato Head took a average but functional economy and pushed us to the brink of collapse.

Yea, sounds about the same to me /sar.

Reagan cut taxes and was restraining non-defense spending while Volker was winning the fight against inflation.

Zero has spent massive amounts of money we don't have and is raising, not cutting taxes. And his Fed is doing their darnedest to reflate the currency.

Policies that worked versus policies that wont. Big difference, Professor Moron.

Sometimes even I can hardly believe what the ‘progressives’ suggest. First they want GW to bail out BO from the mosque fiasco, now this.
Believe me it was much worse when Reagan was first elected. You couldn’t buy a job then but I learned you could ‘find work’. That’s when I started my first business. That’s one big difference between then and now. I don’t see anyone ‘finding a need and filling it’ like we used to. As for me, when I get an idea, I lay down until it passes. I’ve got enough to do to survive the Obama era. (It’s not Obama, it’s the fools who put him in office that worry me.)

Similarly, an MSNBC talkunit mouthed the question "If Obama flapped his arms fast enough, would he achieve flight?"

The answer from the other MSNBC talkunit was "Absolutely".

Smiling takes 6.

No, he won’t.

IMHO, the reason Obama is dropping like a stone is more than the economy.

It’s because Americans have started to figure him out, and are realizing the depth of the deception the MSM has worked on them.

They are realizing he’s not a Christian. Not moderate. Not post racial. Not competent.

They are figuring it all out, and are to the point they feel they’ve been decieved.
