Blair: Delegitimization of Israel is affront to humanity
Jerusalem Post ^ | Aug. 25, 2010 | HERB KEINON

To delegitimize Israel is an affront not only to Israelis, but to those "everywhere, in every part of humanity, who share the values of a free and independent human spirit," Quartet envoy Tony Blair said on Tuesday, in an exceptionally warm speech at the Interdisciplinary Center in Herzliya.

... Blair, who will be taking part in the launch of direct talks between Israel and the Palestinian Authority in Washington next week, said the last 60 years had been "remarkable for you, but what you have created is a remarkable example for the rest of us."

"The issue of delegitimization is not simply about an overt denial of Israel's right to exist. It is the advocating of prejudice in not allowing that Israel has a point of view that should be listened to," he asserted.

Glad to hear Blair is involved and he is standing up for Israel, unlike our current government, who is too busy appeasing Muslims, at the expense of Israel.

I agree. The Israel-Palestinian talks are indeed smoke and mirror, designed to boost Obama and the Dems before the midterm elections.

But it’s still nice to have at least one person, Blair, on Israel’s side, as I am sure everyone else is against them.

Those who seek to delegitimize Israel have NO humanity nor civility.
Zero, none.

I think Blair is genuine about Israel — just as he stepped up on Iraq and Afghanistan.

Probably the same group who are delegitimizing America today by importing the UN to solve Arizona’s Arizona problem.

He stepped up because he thought the Brits would control Um Qsar which was the main export port for Iraqi oil and he was secretly meeting with bill clinton the entire time.
He speaks well...and does the exact opposite of what he says.

Blair is aso married to a profoundly dedicated liberal leftist, and of course that is the contagion which underlies the whole delegitimization of Israel movement.
One wonders how deep the Blair convition is. Would he fight to defend Israel?

Most of America would.

Indeed! Third way Blair. Another Clinton. Without a stained dress. Brits by and large DETEST him.

I think he’s genuine about Israel - but OTOH I’m not too sure if what he says and does is going to matter very much.

Ironic, by comparison with the administration, Blair will soon come off as a supporter of Israel.

If you say so. As some Frenchman once said: “No nation has friends, only interests”. Regardless — Britain was a “friend” of the US, in Iraq and Afghanistan. Blair had to battle his own party, to pull that off. He deserves a lot of credit and respect for that.

As a statesman, Blair has always transcended his own particular position on the political spectrum.
