The End of Palin as Kingmaker (Flashback liberal rant from yesterday)
.prospect.org ^ | Wednesday August 25, 2010 | Alexandra Gutierrez

Posted on 08/25/2010 9:01:38 AM PDT by Bigtigermike

In early May, Todd Palin showed up at Joe Miller's first major fundraiser as a Senate candidate. A month later, Sarah Palin endorsed the challenger to incumbent Lisa Murkowski in typical fashion, on Facebook. She called Miller a "Commonsense Constitutional Conservative" and praised his true Alaskan values. Palin also insinuated that Murkowski was a corrupt abortion-loving hippie, all after wondering why anyone would imagine there was "bad blood" between them.

A square-off between the state's former first family and the popular senior Alaskan senator should have seriously altered the dynamics of the primary race. That is, if anyone in Alaska cared.

As Sarah Palin works to become nearly ubiquitous in the Lower 48, many of her former supporters in Alaska are trying just as hard to forget her.

When Joe Miller loses the primary today, hardly anyone in Alaska will be surprised that Palin's chosen candidate did poorly.

Palin's influence in the state started to slip when she agreed to be John McCain's running mate in August 2008, and it only eroded further when she resigned as governor last July. Now, Palin is mostly a reality TV nuisance in the very state she's always gushing about. The Washington Post may track her every endorsement, but this summer the Anchorage Daily News published more items on bears and caribou (45) than it did on Palin and her family (39). If Alaskans aren't paying attention to her, why should anybody else?

This article is like a night of heavy drinking. You know as you are putting down the whisky that the next day is going to be miserable but you do it anyway because you are having so much fun, and you think that somehow tomorrow will be different, you won’t get a hangover.

The joy of writing this article, the joy of relishing a huge defeat on the part of Sarah Palin, the joy of sending Palin off into obsurity, was just too much for the author and so she penned the article before the event occurred, not afterward. She didn’t want to take any chances that Reality would interfere with her drunken soiree.

LOL!

A little salt and barbecue sauce might make that crow a bit easier for Gutierrez to eat.

The End of Palin as Kingmaker

Looks as if they're loading up on the expectations to try and set up Palin for a 'fall'.

i seriously doubt that Palin sees herself as a 'kingmaker'.

If Miller holds on, Palin is 5-0 yesterday. Eat that, Alexandra.

This is written by a girl who’s just two years from her undergraduate education at Harvard. One can hardly expect her to have a clue as to how the world works [...]

Doubly so, I guess:

1. She's only two years out of school.
2. The school she's only two years out of is Harvard.

Even more impressive when you consider that she doesn't just pick heavy favorites in races. Palin endorses people who view the world like she does (well...with one major exception).

RE: “That would destroy [Palin’s] influence. He owes her big time now. She doesn’t want to be the Dr Frankenstien who couldn’t resist reviving the Monster she cant control.”

OMG, did you come up with that analogy on your own, or were you inspired by this ad Mattie Fein is running against Jane Harmon in SoCal? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wUKHWnpsOL8&feature=player_embedded

LOL

This writer is such a bitter person. Irrational hatred. Incredible. I tried to find her on Facebook but there are too many people named Alexandra Gutierrez.

I’d like to ask her why, after her stupid “Dewey Defeats Truman” piece she deserves credibility.

” Palin successfully used her power to get John McCain to beat JD. That was quite a accomplishment.
My suggestion is she better stay in contact with him and make sure he doesn’t go ‘Maverick’ again. “

What makes anyone think Palin holds views any different than McCain?

Her public personna is every bit as manufactured as Obama’s. Her REAL past is there for those with the guts to research it.

RE :”What makes anyone think Palin holds views any different than McCain?

I thought she was a ‘common sense conservative’. OOOPs, sorry, that is what McCain says too. Has anyone tried ‘compassionate conservative’?

If she runs for office and Mccain campaigns for her;would that help?

The same polls that had Miller losing by 20% to 30%, are the same polls that says Palin can’t win in a general election for President.

Don't believe them!

President Palin in 2012!

I don’t care what Obama’s Commissar writes. They do not have long to strut. They are going back to academia soon enough. We need to get these commies canned. Let them become part of the working class when they belong.
