Bush Campaign Chief and Former RNC Chair Ken Mehlman: I'm Gay
The Atlantic ^ | 10/25/2010 | Marc Ambinder

Posted on 08/25/2010 3:58:16 PM PDT by LonelyCon

Ken Mehlman, President Bush's campaign manager in 2004 and a former chairman of the Republican National Committee, has told family and associates that he is gay.

Mehlman arrived at this conclusion about his identity fairly recently, he said in an interview. He agreed to answer a reporter's questions, he said, because, now in private life, he wants to become an advocate for gay marriage and anticipated that questions would arise about his participation in a late-September fundraiser for the American Foundation for Equal Rights (AFER), the group that supported the legal challenge to California's ballot initiative against gay marriage, Proposition 8.

"It's taken me 43 years to get comfortable with this part of my life," said Mehlman, now an executive vice-president with the New York City-based private equity firm, KKR. "Everybody has their own path to travel, their own journey, and for me, over the past few months, I've told my family, friends, former colleagues, and current colleagues, and they've been wonderful and supportive. The process has been something that's made me a happier and better person. It's something I wish I had done years ago."

Privately, in off-the-record conversations with this reporter over the years, Mehlman voiced support for civil unions and told of how, in private discussions with senior Republican officials, he beat back efforts to attack same-sex marriage. He insisted, too, that President Bush "was no homophobe." He often wondered why gay voters never formed common cause with Republican opponents of Islamic jihad, which he called "the greatest anti-gay force in the world right now."

Mehlman, who has never married, long found his sexuality subject to rumor and innuendo.

At least he has the decency to have NOT left a humiliated wife, or confused children, in his wake. I give him credit for that.

Joseph Farah was totally right on in his recent articles in WorldNetDaily. The GOP is being infiltrated by these perverts whose main goal is to normalize homosexuality and perpetuate the gay agenda.

"We will resist the efforts of some to obtain government endorsement of homosexuality." -- Ronald Reagan, July 12, 1984.

I agree—that “fairly recently” is a surprise. He’s an adult man, not some 16 year old still trying to figure things out. You can now be sure that every time the GOP takes a position that is not in lock step with the Gay Left, the MSM will beat a path to Mehlman’s door.

This flamer makes Liberace look macho.

The RNC elected this big homo to the Chair position and the 2006 takeover of Congress by socialists was the result.

Now he is "out", well goody goody for him.

Well he ought to do us all another favor and drive a school bus full of homosexual lawyers over a cliff, and make sure there are no empty seats.

And take the entire RNC with him.

Joseph Farah warned us about this rot last week: “Meanwhile, the oldest and most prestigious ‘conservative’ weekly in the nation is owned by a corporation run by an activist homosexual.”

Farah was referring to Jeffrey Carneal, the President of Eagle Publishing (which owns both ‘Human Events’ and Regnery). It is starting to boggle my mind how many homosexual males are in charge of Conservative media. It never fails that their agenda for special rights eventually comes out. It make take a few years, but these perverts always choose their bedroom lifestyle as the utmost priority in their lives. I find that very corrupting to what wholesome values should really be about.

My wife has a friend like that, he moved to Berkley from France when he was 30, someone asked him if he had a boyfriend yet, he said I am not gay, they said, okay, who was your last girlfriend, he said, never, at that point, he first thought (he says) he was gay.

BTW everyone I am a Christian, straight, white American female, proud mom of three sons two of them are Marines and at this point I am not sure what my hair color is......there, I said it so flame me.......

"arrived at that conclusion"

I think was a poor choice of words.

Had they said: "he long had doubts regarding his sexual preference, but decided to finally come out of the closet recently"

That sounds to me like a more appropriate phrasing and one I would not have even quibbled with.

“I actually think less of people when they feel compelled to make a public announcement about their sexuality....”

Exactly. That’s why it’s so undermining when freaks like this push for open homosexuality to be mandated in the military. The minute they start flaunting their lifestyle they almost instantly fall in line with the rest of the gay rights agenda: weaken the sanctity of marriage with sodomite unions, force open homosexuality on the military, demand allowing male/male adoption of young boys, etc. And the minute you stand up to any of this, you are labelled a “homophobe”.

Sounds like Bush knew Mehlman was gay and Mehlman even made it a point to say that Bush wasn't a homophobe. Maybe this was a part of that "compassionate conservatism" stuff that Bush was trying to sell.

I realize that there are those who want to promote “big tent” politics, but it is an unfortunate reality that there can rarely be an inclusion of homosexuals in conservative politics. Our goals are not the same.

It's the new trend....it's now “cool” to be a homosexual, a bi-sexual, a trans-sexual, and other perversions.

Of course one must talk about it endlessly, write books, do movies, have a quota of at least one on each TV show....

After Hollywood gets bored of this latest fetish, what will be next?

Yikes!

Yea sure he did.Sick of reading about Homo's. Kelly McGillis just announced she is a Homo, hello she made her money and lied to us the whole time. "I think that was an ongoing process from the time I was probably 12. It was a long arduous journey for me," she told the publication. "I had a lot of bad things happen to me that made me think God was punishing me for being gay. Life is a freaking journey about coming to terms with who and what you are."Gosh Kelly just found out too.:)
