Yeah, well, NOW just might have some credibility, if they hadn’t stood by Bill Clinton during his bimbo eruptions. They not only made excuses for his behavior, but they also joined in the trashing of the women who had the temerity to stand up and make public his horn-dog behavior.
Reagan takes the heat for it, as he did sign it, but Simpson was a powerful senator back then, a honcho on the Budget, and Reagan needed his support on a host of issues-- so it was a typical bullshit congressional power play, and Simpson was intent on getting those Mexicans naturalized--god knows why.
Many people also do not recall that later, in 1988 Reagan initiated an amended immigration bill to fix the problems the Simpson bill created. Simpson put a hold on it and would not let it come to the floor of the Senate.
So yeah, Simpson is and has been a beltway suck and nothing more, posturing in his cowboy hat for the amusement of the elites. If his mouth got him in trouble with his liberal friends who gives a sh*t.
