Successful home gun defense illustrates unfairness of Chicago gun laws

"An off-duty Chicago police officer shot and killed a man who broke into his South Side home Friday morning," Becky Schlikerman of The Chicago Tribune informs us.

The suspect, we are told, was armed:

"The officer...fired his service weapon several times, killing the intruder..."

Neighbors are supportive:

"They invaded his home, he did what he had to do..."

A core issue behind the McDonald Supreme Court case was so if the neighbors' homes are invaded, they'll be able to do what they have to do. That the Daley administration continues to fight recognition of their right to do so every step of the way ought to be all any fair-minded person needs to know.

It doesn't have to be this way. Not all law enforcement officials believe they should be the "only ones" capable of an armed response to aggression.

Consider these comments from Richmond County Sheriff Ronnie Strength, following the shooting of a home intruder by a local judge:

"Strength said his office advocates that people be armed and follow the judge's example.

Mayor Daley needs to be severely repremanded tarred, feathered, and run out of town on a rail.

There, fixed it. Too bad most of Chicago is brain dead.

Daley is the problem and I fully support running him out of town on a rail.

But you have to marvel at the fix he’s in: his entire empire is built on cradle-to-grave socialism. Head-Start for the babies, day care for the moms, after school programs, patronage workers and union contracts. Every resident has a chit on their committeeman’s roster, every committeeman dutifully reports to the alderman, the aldermen report to Daley.

That’s how he keeps the blacks quiet with the public housing and endless welfare; he keeps the upper class whites quiet by blanketing their neighborhoods with police, and his union army clears the snow. And he keeps the businesses happy by giving them taxes that are easy to pass on to the fools who stay in the company town (hotels, parking, airport, cabs). So what if the home-boys are shooting each other full of holes? That’s the south and west sides, where white people don’t go. And he only really needs the white vote.

Daley’s game is almost up: there’s no more money, there’s no one to pay anymore taxes and the people in the rest of the state are on the verge of rising up over the corruption that comes out of Daley’s political sewer.

Change is coming, and the sooner Daley and his Marxist Authoritarian Corporation Counsel Mara Georges are shown the door, the better

Mayor Daley could use a little slapping around - Chicago style. The guy is an elected mobster.

“The guy is an elected mobster.”

It’s time he sleeps with Luca Brasi.
