If you want to understand how much time (and money) is spent in the salons and barber shops, you may want to check out the Chris Rock movie "Good Hair".
I am sorry, but that story seems to imply that these people are too dumb to go to the doctor unless the barber or someone at the barbershop tells them to go. Am I getting that right, and isn't that sort of insulting? Or no? Am I missing something?

You are bringing up a good point. In some communities, this may be the easiest way to reach some people. I don’t know. My big issue with this type of “initiative” is how much money is going into it and where is the accountability?
Back in the old days, barbers lanced boils and some other fun stuff. One barber was even a Jack the Ripper suspect...
