"EPA Now Accepting Public Comment on Petition to Ban Lead in Ammunition and Fishing Tackle" Thursday, August 26, 2010 By Susan Jones, Senior Editor

SNIPPET: "(CNSNews.com) – Environmental activists are pressing the Obama administration to ban the manufacture, processing and distribution lead shot, bullets, and fishing sinkers under the Toxic Substances Control Act of 1976, but hunting and Second Amendment groups say the EPA lacks the authority to do so, for starters."

SNIPPET: "The public comment period opened on Aug. 25 and ends on October 31. The EPA must decide whether to accept or reject the petition by November 1, 2010, the day before the midterm election."

Depleted uranium! But, silver bullets might work best on these vampires. LOL.

...the war on lead is mythological.

There have been groups pushing the EPA to ban lead wheel weights because they fall off vehicles and accumulate along roadways.

Even though lead is present around roadways, these groups (and the EPA) have been unable to demonstrate that runoff water from roadways becomes contaminated with lead.

In other words, the lead is not soluble and does not leech when sitting in pools of water for extended periods of time.

This all makes sense, scientifically, but liberals do not care about science.

What are the possible substitutes? Stainless steel, aluminum, copper, silver, gold, platinum?

Bismuth.

Its next to lead on the periodic table, with similar chemical and physical properties, but not nearly as toxic as lead.

I’m more than willing to turn over all my lead to the government. In one way, or another.

At 1200 fps, I’d say it’d be toxic enough!

yep, I’ve seen this posted for the last couple of days. Sent a couple to Drudge and so far ignored.

Is there really any possibility of this happening?

Might as well post “the left want to Maintain humanity under 500,000,000 in perpetual balance with nature.” because the Georgia Guide stones say so.

Here's what the EPA wants us to use.

If Lead was so toxic, then I'm not here. I'm already DEAD.
Where I lived growing up, was a company called NALCO, The National LEAD Company. They were a foundry and it was one block away.

They dumped all their sand from the foundry molds on property us kids called The Sand Hills. We played War there (Like attacking Iwo Jima), and on another spot played Baseball in their 'Sand Lot'. We were there almost every day from spring through fall.

Mixed with this sand was LEAD. Which we'd find and make fishing sinkers and other trinkets, sucking up the LEAD fumes over the little fire we made to melt the lead in an old soup can we'd find and pour into a mold we made from the sand.

None of us grew another eye, got cancer or any fatal disease from playing there.

So from my personal experience I'm a tad skeptical of this frenzy to outlaw lead. Oh and all our house and apartments had LEAD based paint on the walls too.

It was yummy with some butter & sugar on top. /s

"EPA Now Accepting Public Comment on Petition to Ban Lead in Ammunition and Fishing Tackle"

Which roughly translated means they'll do what they want. A lot like "trials" before public hangings in the 1500s. The EPA and it's little bratty sister, the D.E.C. banned open burning in the state of NY. Usually they schedule the "public comment" sessions when everyone is at work, then do as they please regardless. It's merely a formality before they drop the hammer.
