TWO years ago today, Senator John McCain of Arizona, the Republican presidential nominee, introduced the world to his running mate, Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska. Chosen by Mr. McCains campaign strategists as a cynical rejoinder to the ill-starred presidential bid of Hillary Clinton, Governor Palin was a historic pick: the second woman to run for vice president on a major party ticket and the first Republican woman in history to do so.
In the 24 months since her appearance onstage in Dayton, Ohio, Ms. Palin has enthralled pundits and journalists who devote countless television hours and column inches to her every Twitter message and Facebook update, while provoking outrage and exasperation from the left. Case in point: Ms. Palin, now a Fox news contributor, and her cable colleague Glenn Beck planned a rally for Saturday on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, 47 years to the day after the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.s March on Washington, a wily usurpation of an anniversary cherished by progressives and civil rights activists.

What a sad article. The left usually sees Sarah as a dunce. Now they are really getting scared. No doubt, their need to underestimate her blinded them.
Funny. They already have Clinton and Pelosi. Too bad their “Palins” are despised.
There it is, folks, for all to see...
FEEL the quivering, impotent indignance of good, old-fashioned liberal High Dudgeon! ROTFLMAO!!! ;)
A typical New York Times hit piece by two ignorant scumbags, who cannot contain their jealousy and hatred of any woman except them actually gaining popularity.
Sorry, not clicking to the link. I mute Colmes, so I’m not about to read his column.
OH! LOL. This is an ANNA Holmes.
Whoa. Palin Envy.
An honest mistake. No one ever looks at Alan Colmes and mistakes him for a genuine male, on anything but the most basic genetic level. ;)
LOL. I first posted,
“Sorry, not clicking to the link. I mute Colmes, so Im not about to read his column.”
Then,
“OH! LOL. This is an ANNA Holmes.”
- - - - - -
Hahahahaha.
- - - - - -
I call Alan HOMELY not Colmes.
Very consfusing.
I’m still not reading the column.
Oh, and “gee thanks for the ping”. LOL.
It took two women to write an op-ed about one woman.
“Socialist-bashing”—imagine that!
Wow - what a sad testimony to what they “might have been”. The stand back - try to sound educated and in the end come across as petty and small.
It’s so sad - I hope my daughters grow into people and not a reflection of something this person thinks they should be.
I can see a Republican ticket “Beck/Palin”. That would scare the hell out of the Democrats. Glenn doesn’t wear his religion on his sleeve........he doesn’t have to, he’s got God on his sleeve.
The whole Sarah Palin story’s got legs now.......
See, they should armed themselves if they’re gonna try to decorate their Salons with our friend.
Seriously, she could still be for tax cuts and limiting government, but as long as she supported abortion, the Left would still fawn over her. Sarah's pro-life stance really strikes a nerve in the progressive movement. Ignore all the other stuff about healthcare reform and the labor movement, because both are still tied-in with abortion. The authors could have saved us the 2 page screed and just written a sentence saying they hate Palin because she's pro-life.
Since the 2008 election, progressive leaders have done little to address the obvious national appetite forFixed!femaleleadership.
The key to Palin’s appeal is that men can innately sense that she actually likes men and respects them. No woman who adopts Democrat ideology can fake that.
So I guess is you are a conservative you don’t support civil rights and if you aren’t a pregressive you are an affront to MLK’s memory? LOL! Funny I don’t remember his famous “I have a Dream” speech being about segregation of ideological consciousness with one being more equal then another. That is truly the repulsive affront to his memory.
Queen bee syndrome combined with standard leftist hatred for an effective conservative spokesperson.
Yup. To these authors any woman who is pro life has somehow betrayed all women.
Speaking of Palin and legs...
It's amazing how they can quote that and then spend 3 paragraphs claiming she's not a feminist because they disagree with her on a singlular issue.
Almost as amazing as confusing the message with the messenger. Not surprising, I guess, considering that donkeys blame their losses on poor (Gore, Kerry) candidates. but when a personality-cult candidate wins, it's the message.
the progresssives were against King though. They were KKK, Democrats
the second woman to run for vice presidentInteresting, I forgot about that first female vice presidential candidate.
Let's compare their post-candidate careers. What a difference, hey?
Geraldine slid off into feminist oblivion... Sarah is rocketing to the stars.
Excellent call. Note the heavy handed larding of "red flag" terminology in this one brief snippet, for instance:
"[...] a professional life made possible by the involvement of her load-bearing husband Todd, entering Alaskas governors mansion at 42 with four children in tow and giving birth to a fifth while there."
"Load-bearing"...? "Children in tow"...? Please. The only shocker here is that they actually refrained from calling her a brood mare. ;)
Hillery Clinton is Obama in drag.
Yesterday’s feminists might feel the word ‘feminist’ is being snatched away from them by Palin but their problem is far worse. Today’s women are finding that yesterday’s feminism is not who they are.
Hey now Geraldine was one half of "Crossfire" for a time. :)
It reminds me of the line in Brother Where Art Thou:
People like that re-form. Hey, maybe we should get us some.
“socialist-bashing Tea Party”
So it is wrong to disagree with changing this country to a socialist hell hole?
The funny part is, the left has given Palin the boost she needed after the 2008 election to stay in the news and be relevant. There is not enough money in the galaxy to pay for all the free press they have given her and continue to give her.
This is the report on Beck’s rally today on the blog started by Anna Holmes. She certainly doesn’t represent me..as a woman.....a feminist who doesn’t feel the need to label myself as such. To quote one of “their heroines: “There is a special place in hell for women who do not help other women”. ~Madeleine K. Albright

Most amusing part of that article is that the NYT doesn’t have comments. They control the news see! With thier echo chamber readership and failing business. : )
That, and the fact that she has 5 children really rankles them.
I wonder if they noticed that believing it's good to let babies live, believing it's better not to sleep around, approving of freedom, democracy, capitalism, and limited taxes are all majority opinions. Is that conflict between their preferences and American values why the "Palins" on their side (meaning women, I guess), are so universally despised?
Yup. The author was so spittle-spewing enraged when writing this that they let a glimpse of truth (that they consider bashing socialism to be bad) to show through.
They really are becoming unhinged.
Before celebrating, remember, rats (real and metaphorical) are most dangerous when cornered.
So it is wrong to disagree with changing this country to a socialist hell hole?Yes, socialism is such a magnificent success elsewhere in the world.
I’d pay to see the woman they came up with that wanted to get up there and talk about abortions like Sarah talks about life. What could go wrong (snicker).
Id pay to see the woman they came up with that wanted to get up there and talk about abortions like Sarah talks about life. What could go wrong (snicker). They do it all the time at NARAL meetings and Planned Parenthood gatherings. But in public, yeah. I guess you're not going to see that happen.
And just who is that socialist she bashes?????? LOL
They never have comments on editorials.
That’s how Paul Krugman gets away with no one contesting his ‘wisdom’.
It never was. The original feminists did not support abortion.
Liberals can't make the distinction between a 'right' and what is 'right'.
That's why they haven't promoted a feminist liberal to counter Mrs. Sarah Palin (Ms.?) because there isn't a fem/lib who could hold to the truth as Sarah can and they know it. Doing what's right isn't that damn easy, and they know they don't have anyone (because they're lying most the time) who can relate to the truth, period. If they could, they wouldn't be a Liberal in the first place.
Most people grow-out of liberalism as they mature and learn some of life's 'hard truths'. Your typical liberal is stuck on adolescence and that's being generous (and kind). Why else would there be a minimum age for President (35)? If Obama were given a grade-age, it'd be something between 18 and 21. These two verbose women of wasted uterus who criticize Sarah would not be far behind.
Making the correct choice is something an adult does best. When you hear, "putting the adults in-charge", you best believe it means something. We as a nation are screwed until we replace these neophytes with experienced, adult, Americans.
Sarah scares the crap out of them because she's very grown up. Five kids can do it, governer of the biggest state in the union can do it. Taking cheap shots aimed at yourself and your family can do it. And, finally, living in Alaska can do it- stupidity is harshly rewarded. (More on what women can add to the national condition later.)
High dudgeon; love that phrase!
It always boils down to abortion with those folks.
True, they considered it a violence against women, perpetrated by men who wanted to duck the responsibility of a child they fathered.
