The mosque developers are tax deadbeats.
Sharif El-Gamal, the leading organizer behind the mosque and community center near Ground Zero, owes $224,270.77 in back property tax on the site, city records show. El-Gamal's company, 45 Park Place Partners, failed to pay its half-yearly bills in January and July, according to the city Finance Department.
The delinquency is a possible violation of El-Gamal's lease with Con Edison, which owns half of the proposed building site on Park Place. El-Gamal owns the other half but must pay taxes on the entire parcel.

Typical Mohammed Atta-style muslim:
Years before his latest real-estate project ignited an uproar, Sharif El-Gamal racked up at least seven run-ins with the law, including a bust for patronizing a prostitute.
If the IRS can take down the KKK and Al Capone then maybe they can take down these creeps too.
They’ll just play the muslim card!
Doesn’t “Gamal” mean camel in Arabic? Camel as in hump?
You’ll enjoy this:
With Obama in the White House? I doubt it.
You are so beyond correct. This idiot will claim that it is against his muslim faith to pay taxes to the infidel. And even crazier, the IRS will forgive his tax bill.
What is the punishment in the muslim world for patronizing a prostitute? Does he get his burrito cut off?
Good point! Maybe they can... Thanks.
Kick em to the curb...
His back taxes are on property, not to the IRS. They could take his property or at least deny any development until it is paid. More importantly, how does a guy who just 3 years ago was unable to pay a $15,000 lawsuit settlement able to get a credit line of almost $45 million?
He will just marry her and kill her later..
For prostitution they have ‘quickie marriage ceremony and divorce’ all perfectly legal.
The Iranian mullahs, so called holy men, are actual pimps, and one of the reasons they troll the streets looking for women who look do-able, is that they want them working for THEM, not just because they don't want women out on the streets looking do-able.
Messing with heathen whores though, without any pretense of religious justification.....forbidden!
he will play the victim/scumbag card, Uh _bummer will do nothing..
Oh, he’ll do something all right....
he’ll offer him a position in the cabinet!
We need a Prostitute Czar!
Oh, never mind. They’re all prostitutes already.
YEP, send him around the world building statues of himself, UH_BUmmer, muslim hero, American zero
“Mosque big owes 224G tax (Sharif El-Gamal, same one busted for patronizing a prostitute)”
New York could really benefit by having a law like Maryland does. No state license will be granted/renewed unless you are filed and paid up in all your state taxes.
Also, Consolidated Edison owns 50% of that building. They are now saying they may have to take another look at the “lease”. Interesting turn of events...
Why doesn’t Con Ed void the lease for the tax deficiency and effectively end the whole project? Con Ed’s ratepayers are effectively paying these unpaid taxes for the Islamic center; they all should be screaming.
Sounds like a loan from Bloomberg is order, yes?
No, the woman gets hers cut off.
Are we even sure the prostitute was a woman? Or human even?
It might have been a male camel?
Or a male goat?
You mean this guy is just another deadbeat crook and thug?
AS I was listenng to the sermon this morning, my mind was swirling with thoughts.
This building has nothing to do with a house of worship. The only reason it has a prayer room or mosque within it is because then it becomes tax deductable.
It’s all about the money. Remove the prayer area, and see if it qualifies for a house of worship.
Follow the money. It’s all about money.
I think this cabal has even more despicable goals than tax deductions.
Throughout history, Muslims build mosques on ground they conqueur. In their diseased minds, they "won" on 9/11.....
To "celebrate" their 9/11 victory, and to stick their fingers in the eyes of Americans, they will build a mosque.
The tax deduction is an extra......and has been blessed by mosquevites Bloomberg and Obama.
no .... Secretary of the U.S. Treasury !!!!!!!
How about public financing? And wouldn’t that fit right in with the despicable law-breaking, mooslim appeasers in our fed and NYC govts.
Ground Zero Muslim center may get public financing
“In a deposition for the Vassiliev suit, El-Gamal testified he worked as a waiter from 1997 to 2001 when he “moved onto greener pastures.”
In 2002, he became a commercial real estate broker and started his own company, Soho Properties, a year later.
El-Gamal began amassing a property portfolio in 2007, snatching up and managing apartment buildings in Harlem and Washington Heights.
He bought the property where he plans to build a $100 million Islamic cultural center, two blocks from Ground Zero, for nearly $5 million in July 2009.
The son of a bank executive, El-Gamal has said he turned to Islam after 9/11 and that his religious awakening followed a troubled youth.”
What a coincidence .. his star rose AFTER 9/11.
I’m sure there’s many types of evil islamophobic sleeper cells the beasts created and funded with Arab billions after 9/11 to broaden their twisted campaign of sharia here. They are the vital cogs who are being targeted as willing useful tools for the grander, long range project.
And isn’t this so predictable: mooslims are sexually repressed by their cult .. so when they can’t take the unnatural forced abstinence any more, they get a prostitute. And like al-Awlaki, they eventually get caught. It’s a definite male pattern.
They’re a black plague that needs to be vaporized.
In public financing can donations/sell of shares somehow be taken as tax deductions?
Oh please---when you have a president and a Mayor sucked up to your backside---you can do anything.
And no one can touch you legally.

No problem, my apologies. I had that marked and didn’t see my note on it. I see now that that particular USA Today story was one Vernon Jordan’s law firm had apparently forced USA Today to retract, too.
I wonder how many of these newspapers who are suing FR for copyright infringement have those Facebook share buttons?
Thanks Piasa for the update.
