LA Times: Women in Washington, your seats are at risk
Los Angeles Times ^ | August 29, 2010 | By Lisa Mascaro

Washington — With this fall's midterm elections, the number of women serving in Congress could drop for the first time in a generation. If large numbers of Democratic incumbents lose in November, as expected, many women could be replaced by men.

The prospect of a setback has advocates of women's rights in disbelief, but determined to try to prevent it. "That is not going to happen," said Terry O'Neill, president of the National Organization for Women.

Many of the vulnerable Democratic women this fall first arrived on the waves of the 2006 and 2008 elections, but now face tough odds in districts that have since soured on the party in power and on President Obama's agenda.

Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.

I have never *gotten* the idea that women should be elected because they are women. A woman can not represent you better because of her sex. To say so is the put the lie to the entire women’s movement. Of course, the truth is the whole women’s rights movement was hijacked in favor of abortion on demand years ago. That seems to be the sum total of their agenda.

You get a serious enough Economic setback society will return women to the home and send the men out to protect their families' wellbeing.

This is an ancient tradition, and to see it happen first in Congress is encouraging ~ that mean's the Leftwingtards didn't totally corrupt the human spirit.

Oh, good grief, it’s not about gender; it’s about the ECONOMY, et al.

Looks to me as if there might be a whole new crop of petticoats in the Capitol next term. Only they won't be of the sort endorsed by feminists.

Left wing women have come across as particularly repulsive: Pelosi, Boxer, McCaskill, Murray. et. al. Really bad personalities and politics.

Reality is, a goodly number of conservative Republican women are likely to be elected in November.

However, according to the feminists (and the LA Times), conservative women aren't...women. Just like conservative blacks aren't...black.

The prospect of a setback has advocates of liberal women's rights in disbelief...

There, I fixed it.

And note to Ms. Mascaro: Speak for yourself, not for me.

Ahh, yes, but if she offers the wisdom of a wise latina, then by all means put her on the Surpreme Court....

Exactly. Plenty of conservative women are elbowing their way in. They don’t qualify as women i guess under NOW’s definition.

The LA Times doesn’t need to worry their pretty little empty heads... lots of Republican women will be elected...

Oh, I can think of a couple of women coming in this fall from Alaska and Delaware. :)

Of course they aren't flaming liberal idiots so maybe they aren't really women to the leftists, just like so many blacks aren't really black unless they tow the inner city, race baiting line

It’s funny, when I was growing up we were not supposed to judge a person based on their race or sex. Now, we are to assume that some people are more worthy because of those things. Bizarro World.

The women’s movement has never been about abortion or even women. It is about socialism and abortion, etc is the tools that particular socialist organization has chosen to use. Family destruction is a prime tool for the breakdown of society and that is the chosen NOW path to socialism.Socialists have different groups that specialize in different perceived or invented grievances butsocialism is the only goal., else the Womyn would be fighting Islam righteously.

That’s funny, Sarah Palin (a woman, and obviously one who takes pride in it) endorsed a whole group of “Mama Grizzlies”, did she not?

I guess if you don’t look like a lesbian, you are not a woman to the left. There is something quite twisted about that.

Many of the vulnerable Democratic women

"Vulnerable" like female snakes.

Frowning takes 68 muscles.
Smiling takes 6.
Pulling this trigger takes 2.
I'm lazy.
