VINEYARD HAVEN, Mass. President Barack Obama is aiming to underscore his commitment to a region weary of calamity as he travels to New Orleans on the fifth anniversary of Hurricane Katrina.
Obama ends his Martha's Vineyard vacation Sunday and heads to the Gulf, five years to the day from when Katrina roared ashore in Louisiana. Eighty percent of New Orleans was flooded when the storm tore through protective levees.

The incompetent-in-chief visits a city of his peers.
Landing within the hour.
that’s nice dear
Spent the week playing golf and hoops with a Goldman Sachs and UBS banker. Now he’s off, on the weekend 7 Americans have died in Afghanistan, to revisit what happened five years ago during Katrina.
This guy is dirt.
What’s he going to do there? Blame Bush?
Actually, N.O. isn’t nearly as chocolate as it was pre-Katrina. Many of those on the government dole were evacuated to better places and chose not to return.
That’s not a sarcastic remark. Pure truth.
Obama thinks he can stoke the anger of those who feel they deserve MORE - more of what others have worked for...
Zer0 has zer0 commitment to anyplace that doesn't vote 'rat.
The odds on him giving a shout-out to the Coast Guard during Katrina the same as him giving thanks to W for the ‘Surge’.
If statistics are to be believed those “better Places” saw their crime rate skyrocket. That is not sarcastic either.
Wonder how many jobs he is going to destroy while there.
I just listened to a reporter interview a politician in N.O. He ask if there was anything the politician would like for him to ask Obama. The politician said. “yes, ask the president why he has never spent ONE NIGHT in N.O.” LOL
Maybe he’s going to announce lifting the drilling ban to get those guys back to work. /SARC....as if it’s needed.
He has no commitment to anyone. He will be in bed with them for as long as it takes to accomplish whatever nefarious objectives he has in mind; once his agenda has been realized, the relationship is over.
Ding, ding! No more calls, please. We have a winner!
Dullton couldn't pull enough for an Ernest Angsley church service in Kenya, and relied on old, stale 60's chants mingled with "Helloooo DC! and Fired up ?" to get some kind of crowd response ... the one most obvious to me was a female ululating.
"They have the Lincoln Memorial, we have the White House." made me go for BP meds.
Zero is left with a tragedy that he'll probably attempt to blame on the Bush/Cheney weather machine, and anyone that attends will be asking for a job, not giving a rip about a five year old event.
No .. America is ahead now by at least a point over the commies.
It’s almost fun watching the MSM jump into the toilet by trying to take this guy seriously.
His vacation is over? Well snow-cones and shrimp are the order of the day I guess. Maybe a nice round of putt putt and/or bike ride...dont forget the helmet dipshit!!!!!
The floods in the mid-west recently were pretty serious. The residents there rolled up their sleeves went to work to restore their communities and did not resort to a “woe is me” attitude. It seems that too many residents in New Orleans have their hand out for government help, while sitting in the wagon waiting for others to pull them. A direct result of the welfare state.
The occasion of the Martin Luther King jr mall speech was a seminal event in American history.
The event was celebrated yesterday on the mall. One can only wonder why the president and black guy in chief failed to attend and honor the greatest of all his kind?
Instead he chooses to celebrate the media event that salvaged a failed Louisiana political disaster and turned it into a victory.
Can’t wait to see Obama talking to some guy who’s been sitting in his living room for five years waiting for somebody to come and repair his house.
hmmm. good point! Has Obama said anything about MLK this weekend?
MSM pandering the 5-yr anniversary for all it’s worth. Are we still gonna be marking this 50 years from now?
Its the next devastating storm, UH_BUMMERINA, might as well declare the whole area for a muslim state now..
What a moron! Just because Glenn Beck chose the anniversary of MLK’s rally, 0 thinks that this would be suitable retaliation.
My guess is that he still thinks in New Orleans he has some support. Those folks waiting for that Obama money still believe it’s coming to them, and if he can fire them up, he figures his party can win in November and he can push through his socialist agenda. Perhaps he can still dazzle the true believers in New Orleans, but much of the rest of the country is ready to tar and feather him.
He may try to do some of that before the electiion in hopes folks will think he is moving to center, then he will pull the lie out of the hat and enact the ban again and raise taxes..Huge liar..
Why are we celebrating the 5th anniversary?
It seems weird to me.
Because it's one year after the 4th anniversary! We celebrated that as well.
Poor Barry has to slink into a sewer to find the last constituency he has a grasp of... uneducated dole-sucking scum.
Just why is it that LIBs “celebrate” bad situations and failures. Is it that they closely identify with such things (sort of a primal need to be close to negativity)?
There. I fixed it.
Work? The people he's going down there for don't want to work...they want to live off the money he steals from YOU. Hell, he's there to remind them that they are his homeys and he's in charge now. He'll be sure to let them know that they can sit on their a** and live on your money.
I didnt celebrate it
Followed by stops into Fat Tuesday for a frozen Cat 5 Hurricane daiquiri, then Pat O'Brien's for a Hurricane in a souvenir glass, and a family trip to The Creole Creamery for ice cream.
Talking about the folks affected by the off shore drilling ban. They were working, not talking about the pond scum.
I was given the series of programs titled John Adams and watched them beginning last week.
One scene shows an irate crowd, gathered to castigate a hated British official. The harbor of Boston had many businesses, including a rope maker that used hot tar to make rope.
The offender was stripped naked and the hot tar poured all over his body. He was hoisted on a rail and feathers were poured over his tar soaked body. He was then paraded around the square,
Such a practice is now politically incorrect but sorely needed. We have become far too civilized in our treatment of despicable politicians. They have no fear for their property, much their lives.
That’s true. Houston in particular.
“Such a practice is now politically incorrect but sorely needed. We have become far too civilized in our treatment of despicable politicians. They have no fear for their property, much their lives.”
The way I feel now, I’m inclined to agree with you. Of course, I wouldn’t do it, but it is a tempting idea.
But it took him how many days to get down to the Gulf after the oil spill?
Hope the people of LA let him know while he’s down there that they do not appreciate his dumb and illegal drilling moratorium, either.
If any of the DriveBy, State Controlled, Partisan Political Operative, Kneepad Media had ANY credibility, they would talk about Zero’s inattention to Tennessee during their recent disaster (not enough brothers there, I guess) as well as his ultra delayed reaction to the oil spill.
But I know better.
I don’t just want the Democrats, and the Lib Republicans that support them, beaten. I want them driven out, and to hear the wailing of the women and children in the media.
Now THAT is a 100% guarantee.
Obama: Katrina proves that there are even bigger blowhards than me.
