A leading member of Germanys central bank has caused outrage by claiming that Jews are identified by a particular gene.
Thilo Sarrazin, who is on the board of the the Bundesbank in Frankfurt, said in a newspaper interview: All Jews share a certain gene. Basques (Spanish separatists) have particular genes, that distinguishes them from others.
Germans Jewish community today reacted with horror and accused him of anti-Semitism and attempted racial profiling.
Whoever tries to define Jews by their genetic make up succumbs to racism, said Stephan Kramer, secretary of the Central Council of Jews in Germany.
Sarrazin gave an interview to the respected Welt am Sonntag Sunday newspaper to promote his book entitled Deutschland schafft sich ab, which can be translated as Germany does away with itself
In the book he claims the country is on the road to ruin because of the influx of immigrants from the Middle East which would overwhelm the indigenous population and create a nation of dunces.
In particular he singles out Muslims for failing to integrate and having low IQs.
The bank has already curtailed his duties for his previous extremist remarks.
Sarrazin has accused his critics of a knee jerk reaction to his views. I am not a racist, he said.

It’s not true that ‘All Jews share a certain gene’
But to say it is not racist. Just stupid.
This German has gone goofy.
Does this German have any Arab or Muslim ties?
‘All Jews share a certain gene’
Don’t all black folks share a certain jean?
Don’t all white people share a certain gene?
Isn’t it possible that the man mean’t nothing racist at all but was simply pointing out what he believes to be the truth?
For centuries, Jews married only other Jews, so one would expect genetic differences, and the average IQ of 115 for Ashkenazi (European) Jews confirms this.
It’s not the genetic makeup of Muslims that’s the problem, it’s the value system that they have as a by product of Islam.
I think technically he is right if he’s referring to Ashkenazi Jews (that explains their high incidence of Tay-Sachs disease), but the genetic argument has nothing to do with the crux of his argument, he was stupid for going there.
Yes, I do believe more in environmental and cultural factors than genetics determine a person’s intelligence.
And yet if you try to tell Jews here on this board that Ashkenazi and Sephardic Jews are very different, they will point you to studies that show a shared genetic marker ... so which is it? Do Jews share a certain gene or not?
So does this mean that Judism is just an religion now and the concept of being blood descendants of Abraham (ie. Hebrews) has been tossed aside?
All humans share genes and genetic markers, all races share genes, all tribes share genes, families share genes.
If, say, there are common genetic markers for people of Scandinavian descent (those at least who can be traced back to the same great, great, great (etc) grandparents), why wouldn't there be for people who share a common Jewish ancestry?
Isn’t this the way we are all supposed to be able to be traced back to common ancestors in Africa? Genetic differences and commonality are acceptable only when politically correct. The new world of science.
The DNA Chain of Tradition The Discovery of the "Cohen Gene"
I’d go with racist.
LOL, yeah I typed that one sans caffeine.
Wasn’t there just a study posted on FR about mitochondrial origins of Azkanazi (sp) Jews?
I’m not certain that is what the Banker was referring to, but if it were, is that racist?
I honestly don’t know because the context is rather flat.
And what "gene" would that be ?
FYI, a gene is the basic physical and functional unit of heredity. It is estimated that humans have between 20,000 and 25,000 genes. Every person has two copies of each gene, one inherited from each parent. Most genes are the same in all people but a small number of genes (less than 1 percent of the total) are slightly different between people . Alleles are forms of the same gene with small differences in their sequence of DNA bases. These small differences contribute to each persons unique physical features
To suggest that there is a specific and significantly unique "gene", that makes Jooze stand out from the rest of mankind is (1) wrong and (2) stupid mendacity/ ignorance, Mein Oberführer
Helps to read farther.
This caught my eye because I heard Mark Simone and Rabbi Shmuley discussing this discovery about 3-4 weeks ago on WABC radio. It was an interesting discussion, and no inkling of outrage period. It was just a new interesting fact as a discussion point, which then led into other topics. I thought, meh, something for the anthropologists to do I guess, but otherwise, big deal...
Now, we’ll get to hear from the apologists.....and you know what ? Big deal...
Is is now racist just to belong to a race or tribe?
Look, I used to work for Sarrazin. He’s an ardent racist.
Au contraire. Stupid means foolish or careless. This kind of remark is mendacious (and therefore "racist"), given that the whole carnard about a specifically unique and significant genetic difference between all Jews and everybody else has been debunked years ago. He knew that when he said it, unless he's been living in a cave all these years.
I think he meant Levis 501s. Now thems some cool jeans.
Get down off your damned soapbox, I was simply asking a question. I did not know the answer to it. This is why we ASK QUESTIONS.
You spelled “Jews” wrong you *ucking moron, and you can take your nazi reference and shove it up your *ss, sideways and on fire.
Well, that was a pretty STUPID question Einstein, given that that all this was covered in Biology 101. Why don’t you take you ignorant “questions” and your innocent indignation and go fly a kite ?
Why would anybody except a physician give a flying fornication about whether or not Jewish people share a certain gene?
Another damned nazi,,, we kicked over that anthill, but a few of the bad ones still survived.
The words "racist" and "racism" are tossed around so lightly nowadays and with such misuse, they need to be defined clearly before they carry any meaning.
You are saying that Sarrazin is an anti-Semite (I presume).
The Cohen Gene - most interesting link.
No, he was FAR more wide-ranging in his views of the inferiority of other people. The English were Isle-Apes, Italians were Africans, blacks were monkeys, Turks were animals. It was not merely anti-Semitism, though that was included.
“Does this German have any Arab or Muslim ties?”
Since he dumped on Germany for expelling (what he saw as) smart, peaceful, and productive Jews and importing moronic violent muslims, I don’t think so.
In fact, I agree with him, to a degree. The average Jewish IQ is 115. The average arab-muslim IQ is 90. (Us european white folk come in at 100.)
It’s just facts.
Ich bin ein Badliner
What is his his nickname is for Germans?
There was another one that showed amazing corrolation among Jewish populations, whereever from.
Basically almost every Jewish person (excepting converts) is the genetic equivalent of a 5th cousin from any other given Jew.
The same studies showed a likely northern African common male ancestor circa 4000 years ago (e.g., fits with Abraham).
So, in short, this guy might be a nut, but he is also correct.
You know, one of the funniest things i ever read was Mark Twain discussing the bad German attitude towards the Jewish culture.
He innocently pointed out that this huge non-jewish german majority, loudly claimed to be oppressed by a tiny minority, who only used their minds to do the oppressing. He pointed out that this majority had enough market power to easily bankrupt their oppressor and open competing businesses. Yet, for some odd reason, did not.
I think, like the Commanche, he thought of his tribe as “The Human Beings”
Judaism has always been a nation and a religion.
You can either be born into both or you can join.
If it’s not a hereditary thing then what right does it have to be included in the promises to Abraham? Your conceding that the “seed of Abraham” is not referring to the Jews then?
God made future promises to Abraham but the “contract” between God and the Jewish people was sealed at Mt Sinai.
It not about heredity (although unless you opt out, hereditary lineage from the mother gives a rebuttable presumption that you will be a Jew), it’s about being bound by the terms.
Anyone can accept the terms and be a Jew.
The Davidic line comes from a convert- Ruth.
You are mixing Christian beliefs with Judaism.
There is a Jewish belief is that true converts to Judaism is that coverts are not converts, but Jewish people who did not know they were Jewish returning to Judaism.
Given the forced conversions and whatnot, there is something to this. I have a friend who “looks Jewish” but is not. Turns out his maternal great-grandmother WAS Jewish.
The Haredi belief is that all Jewish souls were at Mt. Sinai and agreed to the covenant. Sometimes these souls are not in Jewish bodies.
Me, I am practical. Abrham converted.
Anyone can convert, if inclined. Hard road.
Where is that in the Old Testament? (Tanach)
One thing about Abraham.
God made promises to Abraham concerning his decedents, but it was Abraham who made a purposeful choice that only Isaac and his decedents will get that inheritance.
It was all sealed at Sinai when those decedents, the tribes of Israel, accepted the covenant.
>>I think he meant Levis 501s
I have a pair of 501s from circa 1982 and pairs I’ve bought more recently.
All are size 34 waist - but the 1982 pair is noticeably more snug, even though I weigh the same 190#s+-
Obviously there’s a conspiracy within the jeans to keep the sheeple consuming and fattening themselves up.
/s
It's rough when the slam on a group is that they're MORE intelligent than average... That said, it appears Germans carry a 'war' gene - they seem to be involved in waaaaay too many wars for a western civilized country... /s
"Gosh, Moses has been up on that hill an awful long time. He and his God must be dead - so hey, let's throw all our gold into the fire..... and worship what comes out!".It's a Ba'al out, get it? {badumpump}
It was more a tribe than a family.
Actually no.
Cohanim are not a tribe, they actually are a family.
All decedent from Aaron, Moses’ brother.
Sure, THIS ONE! FreepMail me and I’ll tell you where to send the Kugel!
Are you Jewish?
