Sen. Tom Coburn: Newt Gingrich 'last person I'd vote for'
Politico ^ | 08/30/2010 | Andy Barr

Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Okla.) is pouring cold water on the idea of former House Speaker Newt Gingrich running for president.

“He's the last person I'd vote for for president of the United States,” Coburn said during a town hall event in Wagoner, Okla., over the weekend, as was reported by the Tulsa World.

In explaining why he wouldn't support Gingrich, Coburn specifically targeted the ex-speaker’s three marriages as proof that Gingrich “doesn't know anything about commitment to marriage.”

“His life indicates he does not have a commitment to the character traits necessary to be a great president,” said Coburn, who also noted that Gingrich is a “super-smart man.”

McCain’s the last person I’d vote for
Romney is the second to last person I’d vote for
Huckabee is the third to last person I’d vote for
Pawlenty is the fourth last person I’d vote for
Newt is the fifth last person I’d vote for

I’ll consider anyone else...at least until I hear they name being bandied about.

I think the three marriage ref is code for what he really means - Newt is mentally unbalanced. It's painful to watch the guy's self-absorbed rambling. He's obviously not all there.

re: pundit, speaker, analyst. He will never be president.

You are right on. I think he has a lot to offer, on a ‘take it or leave it’ basis, depending on the subject. I am content to agree with him when I do and then to discount him when I don’t agree with him.

It’s just a shame that Sen. Coburn will be out of the Senate after 2012. I wonder if his self-imposed two term limit will stop him from running for the GOP Presidential candidacy.....or if he even has any interest in doing so.

Pretty sure he means any Republican. Newt on a bad day is still light years ahead of the organizer.

The best leader is one who’ll paint half their face blue and charge-up the troops.

Or, just put on some make-up and throw the biggest rallies ever with a genuine, heartfelt love for America and the soldiers that keep her safe.

When I clicked on this post about Newt, I was so hoping to find a long rant about Obama’s eligibility. Thanks so much.

I completely agree. He has a brilliant mind and in a debate will force his opponents to bring the “A” game. But, he’s not presidential material. He has WAY too much baggage.

Newt went all out for Dede Scozzafava.

And when he was in office during the clinton years, he caved into to some sort of blackmail and spent his last years working closely with Clintbilly.

I don’ think those are the choices. The choice is between a true conservative with honor and Newt. Not between Newt and Obama. There is a primary first, then the general election.

email received today - why we respect Newt.

July 21, 2010 6pm
There should be no mosque near Ground Zero in New York so long as there are no churches or synagogues in Saudi Arabia . The time for double standards that allow Islamists
to behave aggressively toward us while they demand our weakness and submission is over.

The proposed “ Cordoba House” overlooking the World Trade Center site –where a group of jihadists killed over 3000 Americans and destroyed one of our most famous landmarks - is a test of the timidity, passivity and historic ignorance of American elites. For example, most of them don’t understand that “ Cordoba House” is a deliberately insulting term.

It refers to Cordoba, Spain – the capital of Muslim conquerors who symbolized their victory over the Christian Spaniards by transforming a church there into the world’s third-largest mosque complex.

Today, some of the Mosque’s backers insist this term is being used to “symbolize interfaith cooperation” when, in fact, every Islamist in the world recognizes Cordoba as a symbol of Islamic conquest. It is a sign of their contempt for Americans and their confidence in our historic ignorance that they would deliberately insult us this way.

Those Islamists and their apologists who argue for “religious toleration” are arrogantly dishonest. They ignore the fact that more than 100 mosques already exist in New York City . Meanwhile, there are no churches or synagogues in all of Saudi Arabia .

In fact no Christian or Jew can even enter Mecca . And they lecture us about tolerance.

If the people behind the Cordoba House were serious about religious toleration, they would be imploring the Saudis, as fellow Muslims, to immediately open up Mecca to all and immediately announce their intention to allow non-Muslim houses of worship in the Kingdom. They should be asked by the news media if they would be willing to lead such a campaign.

We have not been able to rebuild the World Trade Center in nine years.

Now we are being told a 13 story, $100 million megamosque will be built within a year overlooking the site of the most devastating surprise attack in American history.

Finally where is the money coming from? The people behind the Cordoba House refuse to reveal all their funding sources. America is experiencing an Islamist
cultural-political offensive designed to undermine and destroy our civilization. Sadly, too many of our elites are the willing apologists for those who would destroy them
if they could.

No mosque. No self deception. No surrender.

Newt Gingrich

I kind of like some of Newt’s ideas, but there’s no way he is ever going to be President. He’s not the LAST guy I’d vote for, but he’s down there only a few notches above John Kerry and Al Gore!

Typical Politico BS. As if the biggest issue in American politics is how a retiring Oklahoma Senator feels about an ex-Congressman from Georgia who hasn't even declared. Total garbage.

Ya got anything on how Tom Harkin feels about Gene Taylor?
