Sarah Palin Celebrates Shabbat And Offers Echoes of Esther

Driving to Lancaster from Philadelphia Friday afternoon, my wife and I passed through a town named Ephrata. In was named after the town that, in ancient times, was part of the city of Bethlehem; today it is a thriving Israeli city of 8,000-plus. Friends and colleagues who were meeting us in Lancaster passed towns named Bethlehem, Nazareth, Lebanon, and Zion. Early Pennsylvanians believed, as many modern ones do, in the Divine promise that the exiled Jews would be returned to the land of Bethlehem and Zion. How appropriate, I thought, to help usher in our Shabbat with Governor Palin, an American political leader who, more closely than many, identifies with the Holy Land, ancient and modern.

The Pennsylvania Family Institute, sponsor of the weekend event with Mrs. Palin, is a Christian conservative advocacy group whose positions on many issues are at odds with the liberal social views espoused by many American Jews. In other words, not the community with which one might expect Jews to be breaking challah. But the Institutes web site raises concerns that many Jews share that rapidly-rising rates of out of wedlock births, juvenile crime and drug use, and sexually-transmitted diseases are symptomatic of "a culture that is turning its back on the family."
Independent-minded American Jews, like their Christian counterparts, are justifiably alarmed by these phenomena and are searching for ways to return stability and morality to American family life. It was to in support of this goal that my organization, Jewish Americans for Sarah Palin, set up a Shabbaton a Sabbath gathering for meals, songs, prayers, and conversation with the assistance of the Pennsylvania Family Institute, to be a part of their weekend with Mrs. Palin.

For us it was a memorable and moving shabbat, full of songs and prayers, hearty food, and our plans and dreams for bringing back home the message of our American Esther.

Glenn just showed that photo, first time I had seen it. Actually taken by a friend of his, a liberal who is no fan of Sarah’s, but after seeing that photo, changed his mind about her. She prayed for 10 minutes straight, just stood there, praying. She is one amazing woman.

I love that picture. God is the source of her strength.
It is also the reason why so many evil forces are out for her. It’s spiritual warfare.
It’s the only explanation for the level of hate the left/media have for her.
God bless her.

Excellent article & pic. Tks O :-)

Back in 1987 or so, during the first Intifada, I was in Israel videotaping for a Messianic Jewish TV show. Our guide took us to a very old Christian church on the top of a hill Southeast of Bethlehem.
As he pointed out Bethlehem, we asked if we could go down there. He told us we didn’t really want to do that because the Palestinians controlled the town. And that was that.
BTW, Bethlehem literally means House of Bread. Recall that Jesus told us that he is the Bread of Life. Hallelujah.

Thank you I receive your blessing and wish you likewise.
Indeed the Sabbath is G-d's Seal over His people.
As a sabbath-keeping gentile. I have been blessed by the sabbath day of rest for the last 16 years.
Every Friday at sundown we gather to usher in the Sabbath. Sometimes we break challah bread and drink pure grape juice and light the two shabbat candles. Saturday evening at sundown my family and I gather again to say good bye to the Sabbath and ask G-d's blessing on our week.
I am a Christian and wish more fellow Christians would acknowledge the blessing of the Seventh-Day Sabbath.

I've seen some Jewish FReepers complaining that they have never met a fellow Jew (outside FR) who agrees that Palin should be POTUS.
So here's Binyamin Korn who is a well known Jewish Internet pundit and agrees with most of us on Palin. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to logically infer that there are many others.
Korn's story shows again that Palin is genuinely friendly to the concerns of the Jewish community, and is anything but the antisemite that desperate leftists like Alcee Hastings try to stereotype her as being.

"I've seen some Jewish FReepers complaining that they have never met a fellow Jew (outside FR) who agrees that Palin should be POTUS."
I've seen many (politically) conservative Jewish people who like Palin but have bought into the lie that she is not smart.
What, like Biden I ask? And personally, I don't think you need to be overly-smart to be a great leader. Jimmy Carter was a nuclear engineer. He was a moron, too. A good leader needs to have defining principals and the ability to discern right from wrong. This comes from G-d. You either have it, or don't.

...bought into the lie that [Palin] is not smart. Seems as if that "dummy" tag on prominent Republicans has been a favorite political smear on the part of the 'Rats in the last 50 years or so. And some of those said to be dumb, like Eisenhower and Ford, weren't even conservatives.
One doesn't need to have a degree from an Ivy League school to have sufficient smarts to be president. Plus, as you said, a moral compass and sense of what the United States is uniquely about are essential as well, and an Ivy league education doesn't necessarily provide that - especially with the domination of the left on elitist college campuses in recent decades.

They would do the same to anyone that had the same committment.
Sarah Palin is the one that the Lord has commissioned for this task, so she is the one that must persue it. It has been plain to see from the moment that McCain introduced her at the convention. His demonic campaign staff recognized it, as did the servants of Satan in the media.
This is the same kind of hatred that was directed at the Lord by the Pharisees.
It comes also from a small handful of freepers that are determined to destroy her for the same reason.

There has never been such persecution for anyone as strong and unrelenting as it has been on SARAH. Truly demonic.
And we know she's knows it, too. But greater is HE who is within her, than he who is in the world.
God bless Sarah and Todd.
To: onyx
Onyx, I read something that gave me the opinion that Sarah does not think the decision to run for president is her decision to make. It's God's and she will do what ever he asks of her. She has placed her life in His hands...As has Beck, Dr King and most all of the people on the stage Saturday.
If God be with us, who against?
