MSNBC Rachel Maddow Show 8/25/2010 (“Couldn’t WE motivate our Democratic base to vote using fear??”)
MSNBC transcript ^ | August 25, 2010 | Maddow/MSNBC

Posted on 08/30/2010 6:32:22 PM PDT by sickoflibs

RENDELL: We Democrats are too afraid of talking about the things we believe in.... (Clip )…..Look, what worries me most about this election is the turnout factor.

MADDOW: Yes.

RENDELL: You saw “The Wall Street Journal” poll. Among all voters, they choose Democrats by a slight majority. But among voters who are likely to vote, it‘s 50 to 39 Republicans. So, we‘ve got to do things to get our base to come out. And that means talking about what we believe in, talking about health care.

Do you know in September in Pennsylvania, Rachel, I‘m doing three press conferences: one with the first child who was denied coverage because they had a pre-existing illness, who gets covered because of the health care bill.

Two, when our high-risk pool starts to enroll individuals. And we‘ll be enrolling 3,000 people in September.

And three, when those $250 checks start arriving to seniors to plug the donut hole or at least plug part of the donut hole in Medicare Part D.

Those are all good things. We should be proud of what we‘ve accomplished. If we sit back and don‘t talk about the things we believe in, our base isn‘t going to come out just based on negatives.

MADDOW: That‘s exactly the question that I wanted to turn it toward. In thinking about sort of a Democratic prescription for driving turnout, obviously, the playing field right now is that Republicans are more motivated. Doesn‘t the base—couldn‘t the Democratic base also be motivated essentially, though, by fear of what‘s out there among these Republican extremist candidates?

RENDELL: Sure.

MADDOW: Doesn‘t negative campaigning essentially motivate people?

RENDELL: It does to a degree. It does to a degree.

Wondering how SHE will motivate the 'liberal' base to vote this year? Try telling minorities every night that Republicans/conservatives/Tea Partiers/FNC are trying to scare the daylights out of whites so that they hate them and vote Republican. Here's a sample of this from lib posts :

Rachel Maddow’s Mega-Takedown Of Fox News’ ‘Scare White People’ Tactics (VIDEO)July 22, 2010

and

Rachel Maddow: Scaring White People for Fun and Profit

Michael Moore did a similar theme in Bowling for Columbine; that whites own guns because they are irrationally scared of the non-whites (blacks, indians, mexicans) that they mistreated historically:

Ours is faith and grace you cant make that up.

They are so self deceptive.

I was listening to two disc jockeys on the rock station this am. They were discussing how Beck, Rush, et al couldn’t possibly really BELIEVE what they were saying, so they couldn’t figure out WHY Beck did that rally thing.

They eventually came to the conclusion that he was going to run for president, phoney tears and all. With Sarah, no less, even though she was obviously monumentally stupid.

I wish I had their number and a cell phone. I would have called and bet them $100 against it.

Liberal/progressive panic over November ping!

This will only get better till November!

Notice how Maddow wants to scare her Democrats all while telling them that we are voting against them purely out of fear generated by our ‘leaders’ ? Typical Clinton defense strategy.

"Two, when our high-risk pool starts to enroll individuals. And we‘ll be enrolling 3,000 people in September."

He should have completed the paragraph with "by forcing OTHER PEOPLE TO PAY for those FREE-RIDERS' PREMIUMS, and thus driving costs up for everybody, except the free-riders. Sorta like buying fire insurance ONLY AFTER you house is on fire, so you don't have to pay for un-used insurance. Is this a great country, or what?"

Of course they’re “afraid to talk about” the things they believe in. That’s why they try to use fear, lies, misnomers (”affirmative action” “diversity” “choice” ). They can’t be honest about anything lest they be exposed for the frauds they are.

Sure they could, except the left in DC knows the blue blood country club pussys running the GOP don't have the stones to line their commie bastard asses up against a wall and solve the problem once and for all.

Wow. thrilling.

A child who would never would be denied care at any hospital. A child who undoubtedly would be covered under CHIP.

3000 High Risk patients. Why are they high risk? How much will it cost the rest of us to cover them?

$250 to Seniors. $250 BFD. Seniors obviously have nothing to worry about now.

I have always thought that “Fast” Eddie Rendell was a useless dolt. This seals it. 2 Trillion Dollars for these success stories. Unreal.

Anyone else notice how the dramatic rise of the left in the last couple of decades corresponds to drastic budget cuts in clinical psychiatric facilities, and a preference for outpatient drugging rather than longterm commitment and observation? I truly believe most lefties have pathologic mental issues.

All politicians use fear. She is nuts. I suppose she conveniently forgets about the LBJ ad with the child and the nuclear blast. No fear there!

Or how Dems always claim that Republicans want to destroy Social Security and leave grandma out on the street eating dog food.

What a hypocrite!

Well, no wonder...

  1. Sharia law for all
  2. Eliminating the Constitution
  3. The communist manifesto
  4. Removing children from their parent's homes so the state can raise them
  5. Elimination of private property
  6. Unlimited abortion on demand, paid for by the state, up to delivery time
  7. 90% marginal rates on anybody making over 50% of the national income average
  8. Reparations payments to all minorities
  9. Appeasement and outright surrender to our enemies
  10. Perpetual enslavement of the population by the Ruling Class
That's just a few off the top of my head. What did I miss?

Hilarious!

I‘m doing three press conferences: one with the first child who was denied coverage because they had a pre-existing illness, who gets covered because of the health care bill.

Republicans would have voted for a bill which fixed that problem.

Two, when our high-risk pool starts to enroll individuals. And we‘ll be enrolling 3,000 people in September.

Repeal it!

And three, when those $250 checks start arriving to seniors....

The Dems' mantra is "The GOP has no new ideas!" So buying votes is a new idea?

Problem is that Obama-care is naturally going to raise premium rates and uninsured, not lower it. How Republicans will handle it I dont know. Health insurance is a hugely complicated problem and if they mess with any of it they risk being blamed as part of the problem, meaning they are unlikely to do much about it.

Although if they passed something allowing interstate competition (they would need the congress to do that) and Obama vetoed it then Democrats would further own the problem for 2012.

We Democrats are too afraid of talking about the things we believe in

The are too cunning and deceptive to do so. They know that if they came out and actually stated that they believed that rule by the elite and a two-tiered social/political/economic system is what they intend for our country,

they’d get maybe 10% of the vote.

They’d even lose a lot of their entitlement crowd who think they “deserve” the handouts, but wouldn’t put up with the arrogance of the elitists.

SO, BY ALL MEANS, RENDELL - TALK ABOUT THE THINGS YOU BELIEVE IN!

Yeah...like communism, socialism, “eliminating 25 million, you know, the hardcore capitalists”, the coming worker’s revolution and dictatorship of the proletariat, the re-education camps, NAMBLA, collusion with communist and muslim terrorist groups, Black Liberation Theology, the New Black Panther Party, deliberate race-baiting, voter intimidation tactics with thugs, voter fraud raised to an art form, huge, intrusive governmental totalitarian authority, wiping Christianity off the Earth, destroying the masculinity of American men, denigrating the familoy and the role of fathers, deliberately creating hostility and conflict between blacks, whites, asians, hispanics, men, women, rich, poor, etc.,to the point of warfare...

Sure, Fast Eddie...why DON’T you bring up those wonderful ideological things you Dems REALLY believe in and put them out in the public spectrum for open conversation and debate?

After all...they’re all good, traditional, American Democrat talking points...aren’t they? /sarc

Cowards - no honor, integrity, or decency.

Ah You goofs already used the fear card between 2000 and 2008. That card ran out because A) your in charge now so there is nobody else to blame. and B) you guys are the ones who are doing whatever you want instead of listening to the people so what do you think will happen then in the mid-term election? So people don’t want anything your trying to accomplish. Therefore they want people who will do the opposite. As such you Democrats are toast.
