The culture of America is always under siege. Countless new arrivals have transformed American culture over the generations. Muslims from places as diverse as Morocco, Albania and Malaysia will change American culture, too. Whoever follows them will change it again. The idea that a handful of Islamic radicals can destroy a nation of 300 million people protected by the world's largest military is absurd.

But questions about the Muslim world and its intentions toward the United States deserve answers, and I don't mean the ignorant rants polluting cyberspace. Fortunately, we have Karen Armstrong, a former Roman Catholic nun and an Oxford-trained religious scholar whose writings I have cribbed for much of this column.

Unlike Jesus, Muhammad directed his followers not to convert others. ... The Quran says "there shall be no coercion in matters of faith." The Quran has much to say about social justice and little to say about the nature of God. Muhammad thought theology was useless speculation. Unlike the Bible, the Quran has almost nothing to say about law. Shariah, the body of Islamic law that upsets so many Westerners and is practiced by few Muslim countries, developed a century after Muhammad in response to the corruption of absolute monarchs who had gained power in the Arab world. Much of shariah seems to have stemmed from regional norms, since things like punishing adultery, homosexuality and blasphemy with death are found in shariah and in the Bible. The veiling and isolation of women was adopted from Greek Christian practice.

People are worried about a passage in the Quran they believe requires Muslims to kill infidels. In its historical context, the passage means Muslims can defend themselves from religiously motivated attack. The Old Testament says much the same thing about Jews.

He completely misunderstands that Muslims can lie, cheat, steal to advance the cause of Islam over the infidels. He ignores the recent history of Europe where Muslims are not assimilating but instead remaining isolated in their enclaves while pushing for Shariah law for Muslims and non-Muslims alike and honor-killing women who have somehow dishonored the family by adopting Western dress or attitudes.

This is his Rodney King plea that "Can't we just all get along??"

I ran across this too. It seems as though it’s OK to lie in order to convert someone to Islam, The ends justifies the means:

Those three words and concepts are:
Taqiyya - concealing or disguising one’s beliefs, convictions, ideas, feelings, opinions, and/or strategies
Kitman - half-truths that mislead and deceive
Tu-Quoque - the diversionary tactic of accusing others of Muslims’ own lack of “peace” and “tolerance”

So whether it’s Ahmadinejad regarding nuclear weapons, or iman Rauf regarding the the “ground zero” mosque, don’t forget that their religion not only allows, but encourages, those concepts when dealing with non-Muslims - to the point that they such actions are considered good and part of the works that will earn them a place in “heaven.”

islam is a pretty darn smart socio-political construct for enslaving people. From what you wear to how you poop it seeks to control every step in a persons life. And just like the Internet or any other multi-switched system islam is difficult or impossible to switch off because it has no central source. Their is no guy, no boss, no capo, no Jefe. Nobody in charge to go complain to. No head to cut off and thus kill the snake. Not islam, it is a hydra.

Every mosque is a copy of every other one. They may look a little different but the message in the bottle is the same. sharia is sharia. And it will be the only law of every land. The US Constitution is at the top of the islam hit list.

All of this is true, the moslems have written it down and said it out loud. And showed us on 9/11. No amount of wishful thinking, political correctness or a blind eye will change the basic and unquestionable fact that islam is here to destroy America.

These three words point out how similar the parallel evils of islam and marxism are. The marxist translation that we would understand for these three words are:

Deception=Taqiyya
Sophism=Kitman
Projection=Quoque

Islam and marxism see the world in just about the same way except for a belief in God. And they both want the same goal (for the time being): the destruction of America and all western civilization.

Like most pro-Muslim writers, this guy ignores a central fact of Islam. In the most moderate of Muslim countries - Turkey, Malaysia and Indonisia - relatively small numbers of fundamentalists kill, bomb and terrorize with a degree of impunity due to the sympathy the majority have for them.
