The arrests of two men in Amsterdam for questioning in a terrorism investigation comes at a time U.S. law enforcement officials have been on a heightened state of alert to a possible hijacking of U.S. carrier flights from the Middle East, according to one senior U.S. official.
As a result, air marshals were onboard a Chicago-Amsterdam flight yesterday and kept a close watch on two suspicious passengers who had triggered security alarms, but were allowed to travel for "investigative purposes," law enforcement sources told ABC News.

Why weren't THEY put through extra security and ARRESTED BEFORE boarding the flight!!!!
Look for something big on 9/11.
Because TSA really had no clue and this is an attempt to cover it up and make them look competent.
i would be irate if i had been a passenger on one of their flights!!!!!
wondering if the feds have such insider knowledge that they were confident it was a dry run. Maybe they wanted to see if there were airport personnel that were assisting? Seems unusually ballsy for the feds and all the info we know what they were carrying... usually we hear nothing. hmmmm
I wouldn’t fly this week for anything.
Any WASP would be prosecuted for causing alarm.
scary. i would hope that was the case like them assuring israel that iran is at least a year off from a nuke! Obama Administrations “Mission Accomplished” momentS!!!!
Anyone heard of their immigration status?
Big college football Saturday
This is a HUGE mistake, especially with 9/11 coming so soon.
Perfectly normal travel gear. /sarc
“Geert Wilders, the popular MP whose film on Islam has fuelled the debate on race in Holland, wants an end to mosque building and Muslim immigration. Ian Traynor met him in The Hague,” Guardian UK
Gee I guess the Feds didn’t think the Islamofascist would actual send a plane /w terrorists to Holland.
Soooo should I stop preparing for Man-Made Disasters?
And Yet, The TSA TOOK my Grandmother’s Embroidery Scissors away! (and they were in a little bag with the half-finished cross stitchery, thread, and threaded needle, a clever disguise!)
So which is it?
Read yesterday they were in the US legally.
One of the muzzies is a permanent resident. The other muzzie had a tourist visa courtesy of The Kenyan’s state department.
I guess it depends on the meaning of “terror”.
Remember, for much of the MSM there is no such thing as terrorists (unless of course your Glen Beck, Ann Coulter, Rush Limbaugh etc)
Sounds like a probe looking for a weakness or lax in security.
Possibly “dry run” for a future attack.
And they won’t let me on with my fingernail clippers and shampoo.
Could have been a decoy to get the spotlight off of another passenger.
I always tape my phone to Pepto-Bismol bottles. Doesn’t everyone?
We don't know, of course, how many other dry runs went undetected.
Pepto will blow the crap out of ya.
“but were allowed to travel for “investigative purposes,”
I am not believing this BS for a minute! Not only can you not trust this government to keep these jackasses off our planes, but you also cannot believe one word they say after they screw up!! It is preposterous that they would allow passengers, who have been identified as possible terror risks, to board a plane and fly with hundreds of other passengers! I don’t care how many air marshalls they have on board. What genius thought this was a good idea? I want his name!!
US official said that they are not suspected of any terrorism.
Might be because Obama will no longer allow water boarding or other harsh interrogation methods. Anti terrorism may now be limited to following the guys around and seeing who they talk to.
Only if I'm hearing upsetting news.
I would hope that the TSA was shrewd enough to determine that the “bombs” were fake (in their checked luggage, I think, so they could make that determination) and just watch them to see what they would do and who they would call.
I don’t know. I can see it making some sense, under the circumstances. They were able to make sure there was no threat in the luggage anymore. Sometimes it pays to sit and watch the target for a while to see who else they might try to contact, or what tactics they are working on, before they move in.
Actually, I think it did. It appears that the fake bombs were in the checked luggage and TSA spotted them. Professionals were called in and determined that the bombs were inert and the Muzzies were allowed to board so they could be observed.
...or next week either.
I presume this means they're simply not (yet) connected to any ~prior~ terrorist events.
Don't be using 'shrewd' and 'TSA' in the same sentence ... unless it's a joke. And obviously you were kidding and just forgot to type J/K .
They’ve tried calling the Ft. Hood shooing an act of workplace violence and have denied it was a terrorist act.

“The FBI probe of two men arrested in Amsterdam after suspicious items turned up in one of the men’s luggage is finding they were probably not on a test run for a future terror attack, a U.S. official said Tuesday, casting doubt on earlier suggestions even as Dutch authorities held the pair on suspicion of conspiring to commit a terrorist act.”
So has the word “victory”. Barack has said that you can’t really win a war and that we cannot declare victory in Iraq and other muslim countries. Bad for their ego I guess.
“I dont know. I can see it making some sense, under the circumstances. They were able to make sure there was no threat in the luggage anymore. I get all that, and would agree that it makes perfect sense to observe these characters to see what they are up to, if they were on the ground and not traveling at 30,000 feet with a plane full of other passengers. I guess, having dealt with lots of federal agents over the years, most of which were excellent law enforcement officers, I just do not have complete confidence anymore that someone would not screw something up that would put a plane full of passengers at risk.
“so they could make that determination) and just watch them to see what they would do and who they would call.”
They were arrested as soon as the plane arrived to Amsterdam.
So why didn’t the US authorities arrest them and not let them on the plane?!
This excuse that they were allowed on the plane “for investigative purposes” is beyond ludicrous!
Airport security should be handled by the military.
Only if I anticipate a high phone bill.
Why is it ludicrous? Not all TSA agents are inept bunglers. Once they knew that the perps were doing a dry run, observing them was the best thing to do. By the time the plane landed in Amsterdam, the FBI probably knew more about the perps than their mothers and did not need to watch them any longer.
Knife, box cutters, digital clocks, cell phones taped together. Of course it wasn’t terrorism. Not that I want it to, but if something does happen on 9/11, the dems are really toast.
Americans need to boycott the airlines for a week or so as part of a protest against airport security for refusing to profile islamics.
They need to stop playing with the lives of the innocent who board those planes. I agree with random checks, even of grandma, but it’s unbelievably stupid not also to profile.
Obviously this administration doesn’t want to hurt the feelings of muslims.
