Former U.N. weapons inspector in Monroe County Court on sex sting charges (Scott Ritter)

His lawyers presented Monroe County Court Judge Jennifer Sibum with several motions: to dismiss the case or, failing that, change the venue for a trial that is set to begin next month.
Sibum reserved decision. She is expected to make a ruling next week.
Ritter is charged with contacting who he thought was a 15-year-old girl in an online chat room in February 2009 and starting a sexually based conversation. The “girl” turned out to be a Barrett Township police officer working undercover.
Ritter served as the U.N. chief weapons inspector for seven years, was a harsh critic of the Bush administration's push toward war with Iraq.
Ritter wasn't charged until November 2009 following a lengthy police investigation that involved obtaining court orders for computer and cell phone records.
Ritter faced similar charges in 2001 in New York, but he said in 2003 that those charges were made public to silence his Iraq war criticism. Those charges were dismissed.

I will forever believe he was blackmailed by the Iraqis when he was doing the UN inspections back then. He was supplied with underage girls and secretly filmed. That would explain a lot about his behavior back then. Maybe he will come clean about this to reduce his sentence now.
