Discovery TV Gunman Demands Halt to 'Parasitic Human Infants,' Credits Al Gore with ‘Awakening’

Update 17:37 01/10/10 - Reports indicate that police have shot and killed James Lee, and released the hostages.

SILVER SPRING, Maryland, September 1, 2010 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Chaos erupted after at least one hostage was taken at the Silver Spring headquarters of the Discovery Channel by what appears to be a crazed radical environmentalist.

The armed man has reportedly demanded that Discovery Channel executives run programming geared toward stopping the propagation of "parasitic human infants" in order to save the planet from global warming and pollution.

In a document apparently authored by James J. Lee, identified by law enforcement as the gunman, Lee expresses his intention to force the network to discourage overpopulation and the "human filth" of new children, particularly among immigrant populations.

Discovery Channel employees first noticed Lee in February 2008, when he was arrested during a protest at the Discovery building. For his involvement in that protest he served two weeks in jail.

Lee, a San Diego resident according to some reports, has said he experienced an ‘‘awakening” when he watched former Vice President Al Gore’s environmental documentary ‘‘An Inconvenient Truth," reports MSNBC.

Police Wednesday afternoon were engaged in negotiating the release of what has been reported to be as little as one and as many as three hostages by Lee, who was seen with a possible explosive device strapped to himself. No injuries have yet been reported.

A list of demands published on savetheplanetprotest.com, signed as "the demands and sayings of Lee," seeks programming from the TV station showing "how people can live WITHOUT giving birth to more filthy human children since those new additions continue pollution and are pollution."

"Saving the Planet means saving what's left of the non-human Wildlife," it states. "That means stopping the human race from breeding any more disgusting human babies! ... It is the responsiblity of everyone to preserve the planet they live on by not breeding any more children who will continue their filthy practices."

The manifesto emphasizes that immigrant populations and their "anchor baby filth" must also be stopped, and that Darwin's theory of evolution and the Malthusian theory of overpopulation must be reiterated "until it sinks into the stupid people's brains until they get it."

In addition, the document insists that the channel must "stop all shows glorifying human birthing" and "the false heroics behind those actions."

"In those programs' places, programs encouraging human sterilization and infertility must be pushed. All former pro-birth programs must now push in the direction of stopping human birth, not encouraging it," it says, adding that civilization and "all its disgusting religious-cultural roots and greed" "must be exposed for the filth it is."

How would one would arrange a green burial? Maybe there is a eco-nazi site that would enlighten us. Cremation wastes a LOT of fuel, caskets kill trees, etc. Maybe do like the ancient Plains Indians and take the dead away for the holy animals to eat?

He’s no different than an Islamic suicide jihadist.

They both come to the point they’re willing to die themselves. Whether it’s for a God or Planet.

Deluded fools, all of them.

Thank God nobody else was physically hurt.

I didn't compare the two. I simply stated that they were both fans of Al Gore. As for the Unabomber, didn't the law enforcement officers find a heavily marked up copy of Al gore, Earth in the Balance Kasczinski's cabin?

"...didn't the law enforcement officers find a heavily marked up copy of Al gore, Earth in the Balance Kasczinski's cabin?"

I don't know if it was "heavily marked", but yes it was among the titles they found. They also found a copy of "The Basics of Rifle Shooting" from the NRA, and Mark Twain's "Life on the Mississippi. He was a voracious reader.

If you read his manifesto, his references to the environment and environmental activism are comparatively limited, and are generally in the context of how a degraded environment effects the quality of human life, and not how human life degrades the environment, which I would suggest, contrasts sharply with Gore's thesis. Again, I'm not trying to be a Unabomber apologist, but I think accuracy is in order when discussing him in the context of today's events at the Discovery Channel.

Darwin in the news again, I see. And looks like another Darwin award winner was successfully inaugurated.

I appreciate your concern for accuracy and historical accuracy, but in our current morass of historical ignorance, I believe that bringing nuance to our understanding of the Unabomber is not a high priority item.

Eugenicist Gunman Exposes Dark Side of the Environmentalist Cult

James J. Lee’s online screed mirrors the rhetoric of global warming alarmists, was influenced by Al Gore’s Inconvenient Truth

According to reports, Lee underwent his environmentalist “‘awakening” when he watched former Vice President Al Gore’s global warming documentary ‘‘An Inconvenient Truth.”

Hostage taker James Lee influenced by Al Gore film

* September 2nd, 2010 7:09 am ET
* By Jim Kouri, Law Enforcement Examiner

A man who was allegedly angry with the Discovery Channel’s environmental lineup, and entered the company’s national headquarters outside Washington, DC and took several people hostage at gunpoint, was negatively influenced by Al Gore’s film “An In Convenient Truth.”

The suspect — identified as James Lee — also had a “suicide vest” with explosives strapped to his body. A police tactical unit, however, was able to rescue the hostages and killed the enraged hostage-taker.

The three hostages — two Discovery Channel employees and a security officer — escaped unharmed after a four-hour hostage incident Wednesday. Following several hours negotiating with the gunman, SWAT officers moved in when Lee was observed pulling out a handgun and pointing it at a hostage on a CCTV monitor, according to Montgomery County Police Chief Thomas Manger. SWAT officers shot and killed the suspect and rescued the hostages unharmed.

This hostage situation was not the first time Lee had targeted Discovery’s headquarters. In 2008, he was charged with disorderly conduct for staging a “Save the Planet Protest.” In court and online, he had demanded an end to Discovery Channel and The Learning Channel children’s shows. He believed the network should air “programs encouraging human sterilization and infertility.”

“Humans are the most destructive, filthy, pollutive creatures around and are wrecking what’s left of the planet with their false morals and breeding cultures,” Lee wrote on his Internet blog.

Yesterday, Lee went on his hostage-taking rampage at 1 PM (eastern) and by 5 PM (eastern) a police tactical unit reportedly shot and killed the suspect and freed his hostages.

According to a police source, Lee was influenced by radical environmentalist and author Daniel Allen and former Vice President Al Gore.

According to Fox News, Lee wrote on his blog: “All programs on Discovery Health-TLC must stop encouraging the birth of any more parasitic human infants and the false heroics behind those actions. In those programs’ places, programs encouraging human sterilization and infertility must be pushed. All former pro-birth programs must now push in the direction of stopping human birth, not encouraging it.”

“It’s interesting that most of the news coverage omits the influence of Al Gore on this gunman. Had he been affiliated with the Tea Party movement or was influenced by Sarah Palin, that tidbit would have resulted in a feeding frenzy. But here’s a madman with a gun and explosives who was influenced by Al Gore and the environmental movement, and the silence is deafening,” said former police detective Sid Franes.

Normally, I take exception to that use of the term, but in this case, I DO make an exception.

I can’t think of a more fitting description.

Hopefully, the picture the photographer got was all that he could find stuffed into one group, just to make it look like it we more.

Still, that there’s that many in one place....
