Top GOP Party Strategists Attending Log Cabin Event
The Atlantic ^ | September 1, 2010 | Marc Ambinder

Suddenly, it's becoming less of a stigma for bigwigs to associate with gays in the Republican Party. Not only has former RNC chairman Ken Mehlman's 9/22 fundraiser for gay marriage rights attracted numerous high-octane Republican donors and activists, but Sen. John Cornyn, the chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, and Rep. Pete Sessions, the chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee will help the Log Cabin Republicans, a gay GOP group, raise money for its political action committee.

A glossy pamphlet advertising the Log Cabin Republicans' national dinner at the Capitol Hill Club highlights an hour-long cocktail gathering with the two party committee chairs, both strong opponents of gay rights. But their attendance will add to the coffers of the LCR's political action committee, which endorses Republicans who support gay rights.

The LCR national dinner, which follows the private fundraiser, will include Sessions, Rep. Judy Biggert, Rep. Anh "Joseph" Cao, Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen and Grover Norquist of Americans for Tax Reform. The Daily Caller's Tucker Carlson will serve as Master of Ceremonies.

The Log Cabin Republicans' Mission Statement proclaims fidelity to conservative principles like a "strong national defense" and "limited government" before it discusses marriage rights and an "inclusive definition of the family." But in practice, the group does not endorse candidates who oppose gay rights.

I'm afraid some of these suckers have "swallowed" hook, line and sinker the claim that gay marriage is "inevitable" or "just a matter of time."

They should be as ashamed as the deviants they are catering to.

“Most people think that Independents are more ‘moderate’, but I think a great number of Independents are actually conservatives that left the GOP because of crap like this.”

I don’t even think it’s about being more or less Conservative, but plain and simple common sense. It is absolutely bonkers to start pushing cultural acceptance of one man worshipping another man’s hairy fecal orifice and call calling it ‘marriage’ - much less forming a household around that lifestyle in which to adopt young boys for indoctrination. The mere fact that this is even being considered by Republican leadership is beyond belief. What happened to basic values?

Lets us not forget the author of this homosexual agenda promoting piece is one of the collective "journolist" progressive propaganda mouthpieces:

Yes indeed - trying their bestest to demoralize the base so we’ll stay home and give up and hide under the covers.

...looking for money...

Excellent point and dead on. Homosexuals tend to be in higher income brackets than the general public. I sure would love to see the list of names that attend.

Who would have thought - check out DBeer's comment. Author is another Journolist mini-Goebbels. Their transparent attempts to demoralize conservatives just shows their desperation. Also note the list of attendees to the "GOP is Gay" shindig. They are either RINOs of the worst sort or Dem plants pretending to be Rs merely to undermine whatever is good in the Republican party. Know thine enemy! The Republican party needs a huge purge.

Now we know where they stand. Let’s all step back and
think of the great boon the demise of the GOP (also) will
be, since it looks like we have no other alternative.
BTW, the Libertarians aren’t the answer either as no doubt
many here will confirm. (I must acknowledge that I have
and do learn much for some self identified liberatarians)

Tucker Carlson will serve as Master of Ceremonies.

Will he return to the bowtie and pre-Raphaelite hairdo for the evening?

Yes, the Republican Party does need a huge purge. And immediatly! (If not sooner)

“GOD how I earnestly pray for actual elephants back....”

The GOP has not been a particularly conservative political party. With the notable exception of the Reagan years.

While the GOP might yet become more conservative for awhile as a result of the tea parties, it’ll be back to it’s pork loving ways soon enough.

Oh, I agree with you. Reagan was the first President I voted for. I was College Republican President in the Mid-80’s, and a Republican activist right up until the RINO’s drove me crazy and I had to leave the party in 1996.

It would be nice to see a return to a Reaganesque Conservatism. Although, not even Reaganism is enough to save us now — only a return to real Constitutionalism will suffice at this point. Reaganism was approaching that, but not about attaining it.

In any case, that a Republican party would deliver the kind of Constitutionalist ideals we need to survive as a nation is, even at this late date and facing the perils we do now, wishful thinking.
