The murder of another Iraqi Christian from Mosul has renewed fears in that city, where the Christian minority has been the target of a series of targeted killings.
Louyaé Behnam was abducted last week from his home in Karkosh, a town in the Nineveh district. Ironically, his family had moved to Karkosh to escape the violence in his native Mosul. The Islamic group that kidnapped him demanded ransom. His family paid $15,000only to have his dead body returned.
This latest in a series of murderous assaults is particularly significant for two reasons. First, it comes almost immediately after the withdrawal of US combat troops from Iraq, as the countrys residents worry about their prospects for future security. Second, the victim was abducted from the Nineveh Plains region, which has been suggested as a safe refuge for the countrys Christian minority. Catholic Church leaders have opposed suggestions that Christians should move to Nineveh, saying that the religious minority would then become an even more promising target for extremists.

Bush’s fault.
Actually, it is. The cleansing started under him. The strange thing is that few conservative Christians, then or now, cared to publicize the plight of their Christian comrades.
I wasn’t kidding. You’re quite right that no one else cares. A lot of hypocrites around here.
Thanks, the silence on this thread is defeaning, isn’t it?
Give the poor mooslims some consideration. Maybe the Christian drew a cartoon of mo hamid or caused some mooslims to feel uncomfortable for some other reason. Of course, that would justify his murder. At worst, this was a misunderstanding because mooslimism is the “religion of peace”.
I am more concerned with the fact that our tax dollars has been supporting the Shi’ite government that has depopulated the Christian population. Why is that? Why aren’t more conservatives objecting to that?
