Israelis Are Willing to Divide Jerusalem
NYPOST ^ | 9/2/2010 | NYPost

Israel is willing to make a sweeping concession -- dividing control of Jerusalem -- as part of a historic final peace pact with Palestinians, a key Cabinet member revealed yesterday.

Defense Minister Ehud Barak signaled that his government is ready to drop its demand that even after the creation of a Palestinian state, Jerusalem would "remain the undivided capital of Israel."

"West Jerusalem and 12 Jewish neighborhoods that are home to 200,000 [Israeli] residents will be ours," Barak told the newspaper Haaretz.

"The Arab neighborhoods in which close to a quarter million Palestinians live will be theirs," he added, referring to the eastern part of the city that was captured from Jordan in the 1967 Mideast war.

In June 2008, then-Sen. Barack Obama won thunderous applause at a Washington convention of the leading pro-Israel lobbying group, AIPAC, by declaring, “Jerusalem will remain the capital [of Israel] and it must remain undivided.”

Obama later backtracked and said he accepted the longstanding US policy — that the city’s future must be decided by negotiations.

Great idea. Reward those who want you destroyed. Dividing Jerusalem won’t be enough. Nothing will be enough short of the end of Israel as an independent nation.

Brilliant. East Jerusalem can rain rockets down on West Jerusalem. A house divided against itself cannot stand. Wasn't this Barak the guy Clinton weaselled into power back in the day?

Isn't anyone in the Isreali govmnt listening to these people? They're telling everyone what they really want.

What a useless process. Palestinians (ahem!) don’t want peace - they will lose all reason for their existence if they give up terrorism. What are they going to do? Work for a living? HA!!!!

Both Baraks are fools and traitors.

There is no other divided capital in the world (Berlin is one in case the stupids have forgotten).

The Arabs have Mecca and Medina, we’ve got “Funky Cool Medina”, and the Islamonazis has Teheran.

Leave Jerusalem alone and united.

As soon as the offer is made it becomes the new minimum condition. There will be no solution until Iran fires a nuke at Tel Aviv. Then there will be a solution of one sort or another.

IT IS always a temptation to an armed and agile nation,
To call upon a neighbour and to say:
“We invaded you last night - we are quite prepared to fight,
Unless you pay us cash to go away.”

And that is called asking for Dane-geld,
And the people who ask it explain
That you’ve only to pay ’em the Dane-geld
And then you’ll get rid of the Dane!

It is always a temptation to a rich and lazy nation,
To puff and look important and to say:
“Though we know we should defeat you, we have not the time to meet you.
We will therefore pay you cash to go away.”

And that is called paying the Dane-geld;
But we’ve proved it again and again,
That if once you have paid him the Dane-geld
You never get rid of the Dane.

It is wrong to put temptation in the path of any nation,
For fear they should succumb and go astray,
So when you are requested to pay up or be molested,
You will find it better policy to say:

“We never pay any one Dane-geld,
No matter how trifling the cost,
For the end of that game is oppression and shame,
And the nation that plays it is lost!”

Danegeld - Rudyard Kipling

If this peace accord allows for the building of the third temple. Say your prayers, receive ye the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in other tongues. Get baptized in Jesus Name for the remission of your sins and say goodbye. We’re going on home.

God said not to divide HIS LAND.

This just needed to be repeated....we do forget it is His and who HE chooses to give it to...but He is quite clear about not dividing His land...so both sides of the issue had better take heed on that note.

folks i don't post here all that often, but I've been around for awhile,

this is one of the scariest things to ever come up in my memory,

When God goes down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat and pleads for his people, he specifically mentions they parted his land, see Joel 3:2

We're also into Revelation 16:19 where they divide Jerusalem into three parts.

if your ever going to do it, now is the time - pray for the peace of Jerusalem

What??? You don’t know that there never was a Jewish temple on the Temple Mount. So claim the Arabs. You don’t know that it was not Isaac that Abraham was about to sacrifice on Mount Moriah (the future Temple Mount) but rather is was Ishmael, the father of the Arabs? Come on now, get with it. All of Israel is part of Palestine and belongs to the Arabs. The Jews all must leave. That is the Arab ultimate goal.

As for Ehud Barack, he is an idiot who today is responsible for the deaths of 4 Israelis in the West Bank where he ordered removal of road block checks.

God has a final solution planned, and I believe some of both will still be around to see it. Until then, you’re probably right.

God says “Woe to those nations that divide his land”...Read Joel 3. interesting. it talks about how God will judge the nations that divide his land in the end times. Some nations will never rise again from it. He seems to have a very long memory for sins against his land and Israel.

Well I think you turn toward God first...He will surely lead you the rest of the way. But yes generally there’s a moment where one recognizes that his sin is what has seperated himself from a relationship with God... but the good news is Christ’s death, in our place, has paid the price to restore us to God and placed us in good standing before Him.

Each individual comes to that place where they meet these truths before God....it’s basically agreeing with God that we have sinned against Him, no matter where, when or with who those offenses have occured....it is against Him those sins are committed. So none are exempt...we are all guilty before Him.....

Jesus invites each individual to take His gift of forgiveness....He offers it freely to all who seek Him. Once that is accepted then the Lord will fill that place within us that only He can fill.

Some people go to a Pastor, others have enough teaching that they go to a quiet place and spend this time with God alone. I know one individual who planned a meeting with God and told Him he would not leave that room until He knew things were right between them....When he left that room he was not disappointed and knew He had been with Christ.

Generally if the parties are in negotiating mood they at least let up on their attacks, so yes if they stay this course for a time lifes will be saved...but as we know in the long run the Palestinians will walk away for any excuse they can muster...it is their way and all know this....

Abbas has little authority of Hamas...if any. But other ME leaders do and they are the ones calling the shots when Hamas strikes. So it’ll depend on how the big boys determine to play this...there’s allot of proxy players in this muck and mire.
