One man is in custody and Miami International Airport is back open this morning after a suspicious device caused a major evacuation and shutdown Thursday night.
The security scare happened just after 9 p.m., when a baggage screener spotted a suspicious item in a checked piece of luggage in the Customs area.
-snip-
A video of what is believed to be part of the suspicious device showed a silver canister, though police haven't confirmed what was found.
Police also haven't released the identity of the man taken into custody, but airport officials said he had been on a flight from Brazil.

The Transportation Security Administration declined to identify the passenger, stating in a terse statement that the screener spotted something suspicious in a checked back at about 9 p.m. Thursday. “The passenger was located and is now in law enforcement custody,” TSA’s statement said.
More likely the guy was merely transporting some very, very, very expensive bull semen from a Brazilian cattle breeder.
The fruit of Brazil’s recent friendly overtures to MoHamHead terrorists and tyrants, e.g. Brazil pres. Lula’s hugfest with Iran’s Amadinajad.
An associate of Adnan el Shukrijumah?
No more nazi’s to welcome, Brazil has moved on to welcoming terrorists from the middle east.
Declined? Could it be perhaps that it would suggest the perpetrator belongs to that moon god cult?
I wonder if this is the flight...

I can think of no other explanation for the stuff that was spotted the other day, deodorant cans taped together and that sort of thing. My guess is they're working at it from both directions, sending stuff they know will make it through the system on one hand and then other stuff they know will set off the alarms. And they will keep going up on one end and down on the other until they find the happy medium.
I would also expect them to have people trying to infiltrate those who do the screening.
This is a very determined enemy. An enemy with lots of time on its hands. It's not like they have to worry about working 8 hours a day, etc. For who knows how many hundreds or thousands of them their only job in life is to further their effort to mess with us, hopefully killing lots of us and destroying multi-million airplanes but if that takes a while then spend their time messing with us any way they can. Like shutting down a major airport for several hours, or making all of us stand in a screening line for long time, or making all of us take our shoes off before getting to the airside, or behaving in such a way as to alarm passenger enough to disrupt the boarding process. The list goes on and on.
Granted the vast majority of Muslims pose no threat to our way of life whatsoever and are thankful to Allah for the opportunity to enjoy life in the USA. But until those Muslims are willing to take a stand to condemn the actions of the minority, and help identify them so we can get them out of our midst, they can expect to suffer the same indignation we would pile up on the bad guys.
I would like to think there are people in the HSA and TSA that are alert to the myriad of possibilities to do us harm, but alas they are government, and in a large part UNION, people.
It seems like the muslims are now focusing on getting bombs into checked luggage instead of carry-on bags. And boarding in third-world and/or muzzie friendly airports where muslims are employed in security screening or baggage handling.

We certainly know from the 9/11 event that they are patient and willing to wait for all the parts of their plan to come together.
IMHO, we have lost the one sure-fire protection we had in George Bush and the knowledge on the part of our enemy that he would do his best to come down hard on them. No so with the current Oval Office occupant.
We are seeing a multi-faceted approach on their part. Every aspect of the system is under scrutiny/attack. It would be foolish to think their efforts aren't all part of a well-funded, carefully planned project.
Unfortunately, now a days you don’t have to be a muslim from one of the arab countries. I recently found out, through FB that 3 of my friends growing up have turned to Islam. Needless to say, this shocked the he)) out of me!
I also, found out that my grand nephew considers himself a muslim and black. The kid is 17 yo and totally out of control. God only knows how many more people are out there like this, that I would never suspect could do something but would. Didn’t bin ladens lackey say an attack would come from someone we least suspect, blond/blue etc. How many home grown terrorists have we seen since bambi is in office?
The difference now is that when these kids turn to the latest rage they are supporting an idea that has openly stated its intention to destroy the very country that gives them the freedom to act out their immaturity. They are playing with fire and just too immature and selfish to realize it.
And this doesn't even begin to address the problem of how many young men are being turned to Islam in prison.
