Of all the reasons that I have heard for continued US involvement in Afghanistan, this is the most stupid. America went to Afghanistan to catch Osama Bin Laden, not to engage in social engineering. It is not the responsibility of America to bring freedom to Afghani women. That job belongs to the Afghani people.
The attempts at social engineering are part of the reason why America is losing the war against the Taliban. Many Afghani men who oppose the Taliban, have the same views on women's rights that the Taliban do.
America should focus on catching Osama, not on liberating Afghani women. The latter job belongs to the Afghani people, not America.
What if European nations had invaded America in 1900, to force American men to give American women the right to vote? What would your great-grandpa have done to the invading Europeans?

This plan has more sense than 3/5ths of the Pentagon and the entirety of the State Department.
We keep searching for reasons to stay there. It is called mission creep.
The same question could be put to other countries. America needs to stay out of other countries business. As an American, I don’t always agree what other countries do, but.....I don’t control other countries. We have enough trouble here that we can’t handle. Just look at our government and the control they want over us.

I’m trying to figure out why the same logic is not applied to helping Iraqi women. I don’t agree with social engineering either, but the way some people refuse to choose a standard and stick to it, drives me crazy.

Since the problem of women being abused is not an Afghan problem exclusively and more of a Islamic cultural problem rooted in their belief system, I suggest every Muslim women in every Sharia law Muslim County should have a US solider detailed to watch her 24/7

What's wrong with the Afghani women that they can't fight back? Why the hell can't the Afghani women just start slipping sharp objects into the throats and eyes and genitals of the Afghani men while they sleep, or poisoning their food, or using their thumbs in the eyes, or crushing their windpipes with their forearms or elbows or such? Pour a little concrete down the barrel of their precious AKs while they sleep so there's a bit of an accident next go around, or just use the AK on the dimwit while he sleeps, and on the other dimwits when they come to investigate. Get him drunk, tie him to the bed, and set it on fire. Why not? Fear of retribution?! Our boys are dying over there in that hell hole to save women who are not willing to die themselves? Why aren't they willing to die for their own sakes? Why not? Why not? Islam - SUBMISSION - that's why not. They have drunk the koolaid of Islam.
Islam is a cancer. You don't save some cells and kill the rest. You use radical cures to eradicate every last cell, or it will come back and eventually kill you.
Good points; if we thought we were spreading American liberalism, most of the world has already said “no thanks”. Universal taboos on homosexuality will never be changed, and while many in the world see us as a source of prosperity (at least they used to), none want their children to grow up in the moral vacuum we’ve created (hence their inability to assimilate). Somehow it wasn’t big news when the Iraqi policewomen we were so proud of introducing to the region were disarmed because their menfolk has objections to their women being able to defend themselves.
Air drop leaders of CAIR, Code Pink, NOW and the ACLU in there to protect them including some of our sacred bleeding heart commie professors. That ought to solve at least one problem.
