Rome, Italy (CNN) -- Pope Benedict XVI is monitoring the case of an Iranian woman sentenced to death by stoning and has not ruled out getting involved through diplomatic channels, the Vatican said Sunday.
As he has in the past in humanitarian cases, the pope would intervene if asked by authorities in another country and would do so through proper diplomatic channels, not publicly, Vatican spokesman Federico Lombardi said in a statement.

Maybe the Pope should call for a crusade.
I agree. Sometimes I think that’s waht it’s gonna take.
Yeah ... that might be needed ... in the U.S. ... .
The question is, who would answer it?
As is normal today, the situation will be monitored, and monitored, and monitored, and monitored. As with our own country, this administration doesn’t have the cajones to do anything about Iran. We’ll have to wait until we have a President and administration that has some balls.
Remember when there was a bulwark
“The question is, who would answer it?”
A lot of Americans if the Vatican pays them.
I’m with ya!
“We will restore the Knights Templars if that is what it will take.”
Well, we DO have the Knights of Malta;)
Islam is evil and incompatable with modernity. Were our Constitution to allow it i’d support closing down every Mosque and deporting every single non-citizen from a Muslim country.
