WASHINGTON - The Democratic left still smarts over President Obama's failure to deliver on some of its key issues, but has made no serious move to challenge him in 2012.
Even the loudest critics among them think putting up a primary candidate would just split the party and strengthen the Republican who runs against him or her.
"There is beginning to be some chatter about running a candidate from the left, but nobody wants to think that way," said Peter Daou, a liberal blogger and ex-digital media adviser to Hillary Clinton's campaign.
The left's grievance list is long. They believe Obama is infatuated with centrist, independent voters at the expense of the liberal agenda. Many want U.S. forces out of Afghanistan.
Still, there's no groundswell for a Howard Dean-like Democrat to rise up and challenge Obama.
"I certainly wouldn't advocate that. I'd rather the White House right this ship," Daou said.
UCLA pollster Lynn Vavreck doubts the left will rebel because ultimately liberals "want to win elections," while dissident GOP Tea Party activists "care more about making a point."
Liberals still fume over what they consider a lame attempt by Obama to win approval of a government health care plan known as the public option.

BS. Day after election Hillary will resign and begin her 2012 campaign.
He will not run in 2012, he cannot produce a BC.
Many Secretaries of State will demand one this time.
no country wants him
I keep hearing that the left is not happy with him because he is not left enough. Hard to believe.
B I N G O
This is a ploy to get them falsely united somehow for November.
Obama has been the most left leaning President in my lifetime (Trillion dollar stimulous, Obamacare, apologizing for America at every foreign stop, suing Arizona for a reasonable immigration law, wealth redistribution, Reverend Wright, etc). If the left can’t stomach this guy, who would they be happy with?
To me, the Dems need to re-take Econ 101 to learn how capitalism works, study up on how cruel dictatorships are (and how America mostly tries to overthrow these tyrannies because we’re decent people at heart), and finally, how to balance a check book.
...so we must do all we can do to get her into a nasty battle with pres Zer0......fun.... fun....
I know.....right.That is a frightening thought that the BCC and Hollywood is more communistic radical left than Obama.
But then again he is being a war POTUS this is what they hate.
They thought he would stop all American wars and defend gay people and muslims and open a gay cathedral and mosque for all.
Wait.... all’s they are waiting for is the gay cathedral.. to make Americans that are not gay, muslim, atheist or black the minority...
Polls show that nearly 60% of the population have serious questions concerning Obama’s natural born status. Does Bazinet seriously think that Obama can get past that an on the ballot in “57” states?
This is because he doesn’t plan to run for President again. He has set his sights on Emperor of the Universe.
They lie so much; who knows; except it’s probably his evil twin sister, Hillary.
I would say this depends on how things look going into 2011.
If things have not approved appreciably and the dem party is in complete disarray and dysfunction which is certainly possible, I think we may indeed see an alternative to Obama.
In fact, Obama may pull an LBJ and refuse to run for a second term although given the size of his ego, the latter does seem unlikely.
But even so, Obama’s ego needs to be deflated and the first step in that direction is to vote for as many conservatives and republicans in November as possible.
The black panthers will be a government paid watchdog along side ACORN.
The DNC probably won't "dump" him, but the DEMOCRATS will!
I think you are on to something he is signing us up carte’ blanche’ with the global communism of the United Nations.
