If we pick on Obama for every trivial slip-up, it only diverts attention from his major failings.

Ignorant invalid quotes on the Oval Office floor covering are not trivial....It's the Oval Office for goodness sakes and it represents our country.....

Incompetence defines this administration.....in everything big or small. This is a trait that I have witnessed for 50 years.....attention to detail is the hallmark of success.

Nevertheless, if the quote had been correctly attributed to Theodore Parker, it would have meant nothing to 99.99% of the people who will ever see this rug, whereas attributing it to King is indeed meaningful to that same percentage. The fact is that King did say it, even if he wasn't the first to say it.

Obviously the best way to handle this is to weave a small asterisk after King's name, and then add the true attribution at the edge of the rug.
