Every once in a while, a politician makes the unforgivable error of saying exactly what he's thinking.
Cue Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick, a critic of Glenn Beck's recent rally on the Washington Mall.
Should Beck have been permitted to lead the demonstration on the anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King's March on Washington?
"It's a free country. I wish it weren't, but it's a free country," Patrick told a radio interviewer in Boston.

Yet the Democrat says, "Its a free country," and, "You got to respect that freedom."
Beck led a conservative rally Saturday on the same site and date where Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his famous, "I Have a Dream" speech.....
Asked about the rally Wednesday on WTKK-FM, Patrick labeled the King speech "probably one of the most seminal sources of inspiration for me."
Asked if he was troubled the rally was held at the site, he said, "I wish it werent, but its a free country."

So I checked the radio station and got this:
7am-C Gov. Patrick Misspeak: Fair Game Or Cheap Shot? Tim Cahill blasted Gov. Deval Patrick yesterday for appearing to suggest he wished America wasn't as free so that last week's Glenn Beck rally at the Lincoln Memorial where Martin Luther King Jr. once spoke would never have happened. "It's a free country. I wish it weren't, but . . . it's a free country," Patrick said on the "Jim & Margery Show." "You know, you got to, you got to respect that freedom." The comment had Cahill lashing out at his liberal rival. "It's pretty unbelievable and typical of the far left," Cahill told the Herald. "When they don't like what the other side says, they want to close down free speech." Patrick later in the day defended his radio remarks, stressing he has long defended freedom of speech.

(emphasis mine) Do you think AP changed the sequence of the words the Gov. said so as not to make it look like a Dem doesn't want free speech. Couldn't be - Could it??
“”It’s a free country. I wish it weren’t, but it’s a free country,” Patrick told a radio interviewer in Boston.”
It’s just Mr. Patrick’s way of reminding all of us, just why the Founding Fathers gave us the Second Amendment.
That is the difference between a liberal and a Conservative. A Conservative can speak his mind but a liberal has to lie to get elected.
He should be removed from office for that alone. Failure to appreciate our freedoms is indicative of incompetence and/or evil.
And if by chance he’s also a lawyer, he should be disbarred
They never realize that every dictatorship descends into a bloody mess with a temporary bliss followed by the extermination. New rulers kill the previous ones and it continues for a few decades until the cycle ends up in a complete collapse of the society.
Excellent detective work, bobsunshine! I sent the link to this thread to Newsbusters.
Deval Patrick is a nasty little piece of work. I hope the FULL quote is widely distributed before November. I still believe a slight majority of Massachusetts voters will disagree with it and vote for someone other than Mini-Obama.
Deval Patrick didn’t”MisSpeak”!He came out”of the closet”and identified THE LEFT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Did Maaahgery agree with him?
As long as he agrees with it he does.
Patrick also had said 9/11 was “...a failure of human understanding”. How nice.
Patrick has horrible numbers but may squeeze in again,
especially if people are not crazy about GOP candidate
Charlie Baker and opt instead for former Democrat (and
former Patrick endorser/praiser) Tim Cahill. Yes that’s right,
people who find Baker a RINO may well swing the election
to Patrick and give us four more years of this guy. Yeah,
right, like the ex-Dem hack —and tax evader—would be a better vote (even though he can’t win...)
What a great billboard that would make with his picture and the quote.
It’s ONE election away from NOT being a FREE COUNTRY!!
Are you kidding me??? Patrick could be RE-ELECTED??? OMG!! The people in Massachusetts are PATHETIC!! They GET what they DESERVE!!
Tell that to the folks who are embracing tax cheat former Dem treasurer Tim Cahill because they have reasons for not voting the GOP nominee. I am a glass-hall full guy (as opposed to
EMPTY glass). They tell me “if Baker gets in we’ll get 8 years of him” (and they don’t like him). Yeah, but I’d prefer that to 4 more years of Patrick.
A slogan I made up in ‘06 (IIRC) when Mass voted down a
referendum to eliminate income tax —it went down 70 to 30—
still applies. This is Massachusetts. We’re stupid.
glass HALF full guy, that should say
