American Muslims Ask, Will We Ever Belong?
The New York Times ^ | September 5, 2010 | LAURIE GOODSTEIN

Posted on 09/05/2010 8:25:01 PM PDT by Malone LaVeigh

For nine years after the attacks of Sept. 11, many American Muslims made concerted efforts to build relationships with non-Muslims, to make it clear they abhor terrorism, to educate people about Islam and to participate in interfaith service projects. They took satisfaction in the observations by many scholars that Muslims in America were more successful and assimilated than Muslims in Europe.

Now, many of those same Muslims say that all of those years of work are being rapidly undone by the fierce opposition to a Muslim cultural center near ground zero that has unleashed a torrent of anti-Muslim sentiments and a spate of vandalism. The knifing of a Muslim cab driver in New York City has also alarmed many American Muslims.

This was a news article.

Anyone needing to determine the state of the NYT as a PR front for the left, or whoever is opposing basic common America oon any given day - need look no further.

Straight propaganda. Not a dissenting point of view presented. No one to correct the absurd posturing, the silly self absorbed semi-comic poor me attitude.

As I read it - the whole point of view is anti-what makes America great. “Ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for your country(men).” Where - where - do “moderate Muslims” ask what they can do to build the US?

Is the best they can do is whine, and infer negative things about their neighbors?

Tell America to submit to you (meaning the Moose) with your swords and bombs, and the normally very friendly America will consider you unwelcome.

Of course the Moose idea of mutual benefit is for them to hack some of your heads off and rule the rest of you in terror. At least if the Koran is to be taken seriously.

“It’s not who they are that bothers me. It’s what they do.”

But really, what we do IS who we are.

I am the first one to say ‘no’. I’m mostly of the mind, throw them all out of the country.

But I had an experience today at work that although doesn’t make me think there should be mosques at ground zero, made me really see how awful these rotten Muslims are.

I had an elderly woman as a patient (I am a nurse). She was from Iran, and so her husband was as well. He remained at at her side all morning and she was discharged to home by the doctor. I went in to explain to them her discharge instructions. She was going home with prescriptions and had to take coumadin and lovenox (a blood thinnner) for three more doses. She was going to have to self inject.

They spoke Farsi, almost only Farsi. I imagine they came to America, because let’s face it, it’s lots better here.

I was patient and did my best, and the two of them, like the older generation we all know, were polite and grateful and said ‘thank you’ to me over and over again. I’m pretty sure they were trying to show me ‘we are good people, not bad people, like what have been in the news’. I could see they were trying so hard to show me and feeling so uncomfortable about all the recent things happening regarding the Muslim reputation lately. They were just like our much more respectful older generation, which I wish was the bulk of our nation, sad to say , it is not. To me that generation is the best one, the sweet older ones.

I could feel they felt uncomfortable, they made a little joke when the husband used gestures and broken English, to expain he knew how to give the injection. They tried to show me they were trying to be good patients and respectful people.

When they were discharged they waited in the lobby for a cab that nevere did come for over an hour and a half. I found this out because I discovered the husband left behind his cell phone, glasses and personal belongings in the room. He was old and forgetful.

I re-called the cab. Their daughter instead finally was able to come and get them to take them home. No cab ever showed, after another hour.

After another two hours they came back to the hospital, and asked if I’d give the evening shot of Lovenox, they were not sure about the daughter doing it ‘right’ I showed her how and gave the injection.

I did honestly felt sorry for them. They seemed just an elderly couple facing the awful truth about getting old, it’s hard. You’re weak, your memory going, don’t walk too good, fears of what’s ahead. After I gave the shot the husband said “I pray for God to bless you, you have been a good nurse to us”. He was so very sincere when he said this.

I really did feel bad for them.

They are not all enemies, and I hate the Muslim thing going on right now, I really do, but they are not ALL bad. I feel sorry for what they must feel like, and are going through.

And that is the problem with dirty rotten murderers, who declaring religion gives them the right. They speak for God, they don’t even know him, and he one day will say “I never even knew you”.

But innocent people are hurt, on both sides.

Not to say there isn’t a big problem with the Muslim terrorists, the clandestine acts, lies, deceits and plans they have. It’s not to be tolerated and I do believe this is OUR country, and it’s to remain OUR country, with our laws respected; but I do want to say, there are some good Muslims, and they too are being hurt by this.

Right, but the actual words they say are lies and the Koran tells them to lie to the infidels.
They are given carte blanche to lie by that horrid book they are putting their hand on. We SHOULD NEVER allow people to take an oath with a book that gives permission to lie and kill infidels (us). How stupid and suicidal.

Great article on what these politicians are trying to do to us by massive immigration and cultural marxism.

Like illegals and every other 3rd World parasite brought to the US...if we STOP welfare and social services, they WILL NOT COME. Democrats scream compassion when they mean “votes”.

Exactly....when they stand up to those waving banners for Sharia Law...and signs that read death to America...then I'd believe some might be in the position to drop Islam altogether and become American... but they cannot wear the banner of Islam and be an American...their “Book” calls us infidels and worthy of death..and they are under obligation to do just that...politically and otherwise... So the answer is NO...not now and not never...their Koran forbids their assimilation so why are they crying crocodile tears. It's all a front and a lie....

Hold a convention representing all practicing American Muslims. Send representatives from every mosque in the U.S. As a body, renounce Sharia law and swear allegiance to the Constitution of the United States and all its principles.

I’d be a lot friendlier after that.

Shove you Koran up your pedophile Prophet’s arse.

Here is the rub:

We do not want you here, we do not share anything but the same race and your idology is incompatable with ours and vice-versa.

I lump Muslims in the same category as Liberals.

Let’s do some math: The most Liberal Senator and President in our Nation’s history who also happens to be Muslim.

Oh Sh*t.

Because Liberalism is the idea that you load the gun of your killer, after you make him dinner and wash his clothes and hand him the keys of the getaway car.

It’s a sickness.

Did you note the author’s last name?

They will never have a “good chance” of assimilating....their Koran and their beliefs forbid that... separate from making Islam the only religion and our governance Islamic governance....that is their agenda...that is their calling.. and that is what Islam and their Koran teach. It has been so for centuries and nothing but renouncing and turning away from their ideology/Islam will change the way they are headed here.

The article was full of victumhood....they project themselves as the victim's because it works to gather sympathy from stupid politicians and the general public. Not one apologized for what their people are doing worldwide...of course they won't either...it's not one incident here or there...it's about their people who are doing these things because of Islam...it's a deadly and despicable ideology that has brainwashed their entire race. Every country that has let them in is either now an Islamic country or at war to become one. We're next and that is what this is all about.....

The knifing of a Muslim cab driver in New York City has also alarmed many American Muslims.

And yet honor killings and beheadings raise nary an eyebrow.

...there are some good Muslims...

I respectfully disagree.

I may be cold-hearted but your narrative failed to move me one iota. They are a cancer and the intersection of what's good and Muslims forms the null set.

No exceptions.

Yes, they can belong once they embrace the Way and the Light and stop following that false prophet.

The fact that they even ask this question makes me believe they are incredibly stupid, in addition to their delusional religious beliefs.

“No” is a complete sentence.

Will you ever want to belong? Have you ever wanted to belong anywhere unless it was on your terms?
